22:22 - Amazon Picks Up 5 New Primetime Series & 3 Kids Series, Renews Red Oaks & Hand Of God
Thanks to Daniel for the heads up.
Amazon Prime is ramping up its original slate in a big way, picking up a whopping five primetime pilots to series: two dramas — the 1969 newsroom-set Good Girls Revolt, starring Genevieve Angelson, and political thriller Patriot, written and directed by Steven Conrad and co-starring Terry O’Quinn — and three comedies: dark comedy One Mississippi starring comedian Tig Notaro, written and executive produced by Notaro and Diablo Cody and executive produced by Louis CK; as well as Bob Nelson’s Highston, starring Mary Lynn Rajskub and Chris Parnell, and Z, starring Christina Ricci as Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald. That means that five of the six drama and comedy pilots from Amazon’s most recent pilot season are going to series. The sixth, Shane Black and Fred Dekker’s Western Edge starring Max Martini, is getting its option extended I hear.
Additionally, freshman series Red Oaks and Hand Of God will join freshly renewed The Man In The High Castle in getting second-season pickups, so all three series that debuted on Amazon in 2015 will return next year.

No surprise here — after overwhelmingly positive response from critics and fans, Amazon’s original drama series The Man In The High Castle has been renewed for a second season to air next year. Based on Philip K. Dick’s alt-history novel, the series hails from creator Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files) and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free. The project had been a standout at Amazon since the pilot stage, becoming the service’s most watched pilot to date.

23:00 - The Grinder - Maya Rudolph Cast in Multiple Episodes
She'll appear in multiple episodes of the Rob Lowe-Fred Savage comedy.
The Grinder continues to nab impressive guest stars.
Maya Rudolph is the latest to book a spot on the Fox comedy starring Rob Lowe and Fred Savage as rivaling brothers. She joins a growing roster of guest actors that includes Jason Alexander, Timothy Olyphant, Christina Applegate and Nathan Fielder.
The Saturday Night Live vet will play Jillian, Stewart's (Savage) therapist who he's been relying on ever since Dean (Lowe) came to town. Stewart refers Dean to her in hopes that she can help bring him down to earth a little and start seeing things his way.
The first episode in Rudolph’s arc was filmed last week, and is slated to air in early February. The Grinder airs Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. on Fox.
