Thanks to OUATFanatic for the heads up.

Is that your favorite thing about playing Hester? Because it’s something different than Rachel Berry?

Definitely. I think that there are so many incredible things, but as an actor, coming from being involved in such a historic television show for so many years and then getting the opportunity to jump into something else right away and really show people a different side of who I am as an actor was such a blessing. I grew up watching Gilda Radner, Cheri Oteri, Molly Shannon. These are the women that I loved. They played these very over-the-top comedic characters — Molly Shannon as Mary Katherine Gallagher, anyone that Cheri Oteri did on SNL. All of these women were so free in their comedy. I did have that opportunity playing Rachel Berry, but even more so with Hester. I got to take it to such another level. This is a great learning experience and a great opportunity, and I can’t wait to keep spreading my wings.

IGN: Do you think that's something that will roll over if there is a Season 2, or do you think it'll be fresh?

Michele: I know that there's going to be a new killer. But something has to start happening to get them to move to a new location, which I hear we're going to. So I don't think we're going to see the Red Devil anymore.

IGN: But same characters?

Michele: Same characters. I think so, but you never know with Ryan. But we did a fan event with Ryan a couple weeks ago in New York, and he mentioned that it would be a new location but I think same characters.

IGN: Cool. I just need more Chad Radwell.

Michele: We all need more Chad Radwell.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: When did you find out that Hester is the remaining Red Devil?
LEA MICHELE: I found out in New York. [Keke, Emma, and I] were at EW Fest. They had gotten the script. I hadn’t gotten it yet because I was traveling to New York. I was like “Oh, did you get the final script? … Who’s the killer?” And they were like, “It’s you.” I was like, “Are you serious?” And they were like, “Yeah, you get away with it.” I marched right over to [series co-creator] Ryan [Murphy], and I was like, “Okay, but am I going to live? Is everything fine?” He’s like, “Yeah, you get away with it.” I got to go home a few days later to New Orleans and read the script and got the whole breakdown.

How did you react to the news?
I was really shocked. I was so grateful that Ryan brought this incredible opportunity to me. I never thought that he had thought out that I was the killer. I thought he was like “Oh, I’m doing this new show, and [will] write a really cool, new role for Lea Michele,” but the fact that he went into it thinking that I was the killer is so awesome [and] cool.

It was so fun to watch you realize your villainy.
It was really fun to play. I got to do so many different things with Hester. I got to be funny, weird, a little sexual, vulnerable — like in that Chad Radwell (Glen Powell) episode with the family — calculated, villainous, and then, at the end, happy and relieved. I really just got to do so much with this character.
