The Royals - It Is Not, nor it Cannot Come to Good - Review

Season 2 of The Royals picks with the wrath of the new reigning king of England, Cyrus. After being stripped of their titles, Liam and Eleanor have the chance to become prince and princess once again. Of course there is a catch, they have to apologize to Cyrus in order to regain their titles. Liam has none of this, he is so certain that Cyrus is the one who murdered King Simon. Eleanor however surprisingly apologizes to Cyrus and even kisses his ring. Thing is the first glimpse that gives us an indication on how lost these two royal siblings are.

Liam has spent his last two months trying to figure out what that symbol on the necklace means and if the paternity test was falsified. Eleanor has gone back to her old ways partying and boozing to deal with her pain. As always Queen Helena is doing what she does best, scheming to be number one. Does this woman ever look out for her kids?

Our two favorite schemers are back at it again. Queen Helena is very adamant that if anything happens to Cyrus, she becomes the ruling Queen of England. She has some evil plan up her sleeve to bring her two nieces down. She had no problem taking down her kids, so it’s not too surprising that she would do the same with her nieces. Our other notorious schemer, Cyrus is now king. He may be the most self-absorbed king that England has ever seen, but it’s pretty entertaining to watch. I have a feeling that Cyrus’s days of being king are going to be short numbered. The people do not like him and he’s doing nothing to get back into their good graces.

Jasper is also back and clearly very concerned about Eleanor. He has been following her as she parties throughout the globe. She does not seemed all too thrilled about this, but it’s clear from an outsider’s perspective that he truly does care about her, even though he’s still super shady. Ophelia on the other hand is nowhere to be seen. Which I’m not going to lie, makes me very happy. I could never root for her character. Her name was mentioned numerous times, so I’m only assuming that she will be back some time in the near future. Maybe she knows a way on how to fix her dad seeing and talking to his dead wife?

With Ophelia and Marcus being out of the picture. Liam feels that he has no one to trust, but Eleanor. So in comes Jasper putting on his fake British accent, a good one I might add. He helps Liam find out that Cyrus’s alibi the night King Simon was murdered is fake. Liam also sees how protective Jasper has become of Eleanor and he feels that he can trust him. His tells Eleanor that he’s requested for Jasper to be on his detail and she pretends to be less then thrilled. It’s very obvious that Eleanor likes having Jasper around and even proves that when she begins to follow him out of her room. Unfortunately for the viewers and for Eleanor, it’s not Jasper on the other side of the door it’s Beck. This should make for an interesting love triangle.

Side notes:
-How amazing were Eleanor’s one-liners?
-Is Eleanor going to ever repaint her room?
-Cyrus found out he is going to be father, and didn’t even blink an eye before his verbal takedown of Prudence.
-Do Queen Helena and her mother know who killed King Simon?

What did you think of the season premiere of The Royals? Do you think Cyrus is going to be a good king? Do you miss Ophelia? Who do you think is a better fit for Eleanor, Jasper or Beck? Be sure to comment down below.
