This week the Mikaelsons decided to have a dinner party and invite Lucien, Tristan and Aurora. Aurora revealed that she dumped Rebekah in the ocean and she and her brother both know a piece of the location, so the Original siblings can’t kill them. After a lot of fighting, Klaus decides to hold Tristan hostage in exchange for Rebekah. Aurora then retaliates by kidnapping Cami, who had just escaped her other kidnapper, Lucien (more specifically, his babysitter). Vincent outed Davina to the covens which got her shunned. Jackson was angry at Hayley for helping the Mikaelsons and therefore being late for their plans. Elijah realizes that the visions he saw of the prophecy are becoming a reality.
Favorite scene: I actually really enjoyed the dinner scene(s). Especially when things, as Lucien said, escalated. Which I guess is the Mikaelson tradition. Knives at people’s throats, necks snapped, bodies slammed against walls and a lot of shouting. Or what the Mikaelsons call a Thursday night. I’m surprised no one died.
Character with the worst luck: I was actually pretty impressed with Cami this week. Her plan to get away from Anton was very clever. Even I believed she was drunk. Her only mistake was waiting for the elevator. When someone is chasing you (even if you have their daylight ring) you take the stairs, you don’t stand around awkwardly waiting for the elevator. Had she taken the stairs, she would’ve missed Aurora and would have been safe. Alas, maybe next time. Because let’s face it, they’re not going to kill her off.
Character I felt bad for: I know I probably shouldn’t, but I couldn’t help but feel bad for Davina. I get that Vincent was trying to protect her from the Strix but he went about it all wrong. If I’m not mistaken, her being shunned from the coven means she no longer has access to her magic right? So how the hell is she supposed to protect herself. The Strix might no longer be interested in her, but I’m pretty sure she has pissed off some other supernatural people in New Orleans who she is now defenseless against. And I can’t believe Marcel is okay with this. I doubt she’ll stay powerless for long, since I read that they recently cast a new witch who practices a different kind of magic. I kind of hope Davina will go over to the dark side, would make for an interesting storyline.
Least favorite character: There were a lot of characters that got on my nerves this week, but Tristan wins this one. I doesn’t really have anything to do with his actions but more with the way he treats people. I can ‘t stand how he treats Aurora. He has this whole superior attitude towards her, even though so far I haven’t seen a single thing that supposedly makes him better than her. He was the same way in the flashbacks, like he owns her. I feel like out the three sired vampires, Tristan is the least like his sire.
Most short-lived relationship: Wow, even Klaus’ relationship with Genevieve lasted longer than that. I honestly thought the writers would drag out his relationship with Aurora just a bit longer. Even if they were kind of doomed from the start. But I’m pretty sure that after dumping Rebekah in the ocean (more on that later) and kidnapping Cami, there will be no reconciliation for these two. Personally, I don’t really mind. I like them a lot more as enemies. That way Aurora doesn’t have to hold back her craziness.
She did what?! When you dump my favorite character in the ocean, you end up on top of my nope-list. Since Claire still hasn’t announced her return, I fear that Rebekah might be swimming with the fishes for a while. Which means either Tristan or Aurora will bite the dust soon without revealing their part of Rebekah’s location. My money is on Tristan. I don’t find him all that relevant and Anya can easily replace him as Elijah’s top sired vampire. There are just much more storyline options where Aurora is concerned.
I hear divorce bells: So things seem to be going sideways between Hayley and Jackson. I guess it was bound to happen eventually, since I’m pretty sure the writers are planning to evolve the Hayley-Elijah romance. But I didn’t think it would be over this. Of course Hayley would want to help the Original family find Rebekah, I’m pretty sure that if the roles were reversed Jackson would do the same thing. But he didn’t even want to discuss it, he just wanted her to do what he wanted. And when he didn’t get his way he spent the night in the bayou, which I guess is the werewolf equivalent of sleeping on the couch.
What I want: Remember back in the day, when Elijah believed that Klaus had dumped their siblings in the ocean and Elijah came very close to ripping his heart out of his chest? Since that has now actually happened, I would very much like to see that Elijah again. He was fun, even though his hair was a mess.
Best quotes: Lucien: “Well this all escalate very quickly.”
Aurora: “That actually hurt. I haven’t felt pain since the 1700’s. It kind of tickles.”
Freya: “She’s my family. I won’t lose her.”
That’s it for this week. Check in again next week for an all new review and let me know in the comments what you thought of this week’s episode.
