This week’s episode centered around Aurora and Klaus’ past. Through flashbacks we found out how she was turned and what separated the two. This leads to a fight between Klaus and Elijah. Hayley and Jackson become Davina’s bodyguards for a day and she lifts their curse. Cami and Vincent get involved in another murder and Will arrests Cami. Marcel discovers that Lucien and Tristan have been working together. No sign of Freya, but I think it’s safe to assume she’s babysitting again.
Least favorite storyline: So here’s the thing. I actually like the serial killer storyline. But I didn’t like the turn it took this week. And I get that given the evidence, Will had to arrest Cami. But we all know that Cami’s not the killer, so this will just delay the reveal of the actual killer. As for the reveal of the actual killer, I’m more confused than ever. According to Marcel’s spies, Lucien and Tristan are working together. But why? Does it have something to do with the murders. It almost has to, since they are the two main suspects. And what does this mean for this season’s main storyline. Is there really a war between the sire-lines? My theory is that the whole ‘you kill an Original and everyone they turned dies’ thing will not last much longer. I think they’re going to find a way to unlink themselves and then go after the Original family.
Most anticipated character: So I think we were all very excited to see more of Aurora. But I’m a little disappointed. I expected to see more of her in the present day. We got a lot of backstory, which I’m not complaining about. But when it came to the present day, we only really saw her interact with Klaus. I also want to know what Aurora could have possibly done to make Tristan lock her up. He said she’s going through a dark period but I haven’t seen her do anything half the characters on this show haven’t done. But now that the backstory is out of the way, I’m sure we’ll see her interact with the other characters soon.
Favorite flashback: Speaking of backstory, I loved seeing Rebekah again. Even if it was only for a brief moment. I wondered how Aurora could have been turned by Rebekah since there was practically no bond between them whatsoever. I like that Rebekah tried to calm her down after her heartbreak, something Rebekah experienced a lot in the next few centuries. It’s a shame they had to leave her behind so quickly, I think they might have grown to be friends. Something Rebekah could’ve used surrounded by all those men in her family.
Favorite fight: So technically we haven’t seen the entire fight, judging from the promo it’s going to get a lot worse. Still, what we did see definitely counts as one. They both screwed up big time. Elijah should have never kept what he did from Klaus. Those thing always come out eventually. I do get why he did it. They were all so terrified of Mikael that Elijah didn’t want to take any chances. And let’s be honest, Lucien and Aurora would have been a major liability. But still, he should have told him much sooner. So Klaus did have a reason to be mad, but as usual he took things way too far. While Aurora rejecting him probably didn’t do his love life much good, it is in no way to blame for what Klaus has become. Mikael holds a large part of the blame, so does Esther, but mostly Klaus himself. Elijah is absolutely right to be mad. He believed in Klaus the longest, when all of their other siblings had long given up on him. And Klaus still refused to take the blame for his own actions. And this makes me so mad, because just a few weeks ago Klaus seemed to accept the blame for what he did to Hayley. But now he seems to have reverted back to his old ways. Which of course lands the brothers back on opposite sides, playing right into the hands of that prophecy. Freya is going to be so pissed when she finds out.
Biggest remaining question: So we still don’t know how Tristan was turned. From what we could see, he hadn’t been when the Original siblings were planning their escape. So something must have happened right before or right after they left. I don’t see why Elijah would turn him, especially not after seeing how unwilling he was to let Aurora come with them. I’m very curious to find out what happened.
Best quotes: Hayley: “I’ll keep you alive, but if you wear that awful orange scarf you’ll wish that I hadn’t.”
Elijah: “All this blame. Will you ever look at yourself. I have carried you for centuries, Niklaus. No more. You want to fight, so be it.”
