Louis Canning recruits Alicia for another case in this week’s episode of “The Good Wife.” And that case puts her in the vicinity of Diane and Cary once again. In “Driven,” Alicia and Lucca represent an employee who was test-driving a car that operates itself. The man – or the driverless car, depending on whom you believe – hit a female driver on the road, causing an accident that put the woman in a wheelchair. Louis Canning represents the accident victim while Diana and Cary represent the owner of the driverless car company.
Another fun part of the episode was watching the interactions between Alicia and Jason, Alicia and Peter, and then Alicia, Peter and Jason. After recently hearing Jason could be a potential sociopath, Alicia is still unsure what to think of him. There’s a little weirdness between them as she doesn’t know if she can trust him or not. I liked that they played with this element in “Driven.” Should Alicia trust Jason and give into his charm or keep him at arm’s length out of safety? She can’t quite decide. And, as viewers, we don’t know what to think yet, either. Jason definitely is helpful to the case in unexpected ways, which wins him points with Alicia. Is that enough to trust him?
Alicia happens to be in the middle of talking with Jason when Peter shows up at the house. It’s all part of a campaign strategy to convince a high-profile, rich CEO (Vanessa Williams) to back Peter’s campaign. Peter must feign appearances that all is well between him and his wife so that means sleeping at Alicia’s. I enjoyed this scene between Peter, Jason and Alicia with all its inherent awkwardness. It left some lingering questions for me. And you can definitely expect some surprising moments between Alicia and Peter on their own, too. Alicia is in an interesting place in this episode. She seems more amused by life and less bothered by things around her. She seems almost content.
One of my favorite moments was Eli being shocked at a situation he didn’t expect to see at Alicia’s house. I just loved his reaction. I think you’ll enjoy this moment. Eli, of course, is doing anything he can to win the support of Vanessa Williams’ character, even if it means setting up fake situations to make her happy. It was fun to see Vanessa Williams as a guest star. Oh, and Jackie and Howard Lyman make an appearance together. The two of them are quite the pair.
Also in this episode we begin to see Alicia serving on the election board that Frank Landau recruited her for. And he immediately tells her how he wants her to vote. Is she going to do what Landau asks?
Overall there was quite a bit going on in this episode but it was the dynamics of the main relationships that made it interesting.
You can catch this latest episode of “The Good Wife” Sunday night at 9/8c on CBS.
