Review:
Barry annoys his dad because he wants to have a dog but he keeps reminding him that he cannot have one. After many times of annoying him, he finally agrees to it if he promises to take care of the dog, which he agrees to. At first, they get along until Lucky (dog's name) bonds with Murray (the dad) more. This upsets Barry until he finds out that she was only bonding with him because of the food crumbs that dad had dropped. In the end, she is okay with Barry.
Meanwhile, Erica has a sleepover with her friends at the house. It used to be where Beverly joined the girls with them. After Adam and the guys sneak in on what the girls are doing, Beverly grounds Adam and call his friend's parents for this act. Then, she gets mad that they didn't invite her to the sleepover. Erica claims that she can live without her mother and live independently. However, that all fails after she and Lainey attempt to purchase an illegal ticket at a concert from an undercover cop. Erica calls Pops to bail her out but he gets in jail for driving without a license and failing to cooperate with law enforcement. The next day, she bails out Pops. She refuses to bail her own daughter out until Erica pleads with her that she needs her. She bails her and Lainey out. In the end, Erica and Bev have a heartfelt talk and they have a sleepover and watch Troop Beverly Hills like the girls did growing up except this time now, it's just the mother and the daughter.
My Thoughts:
It wasn't the best episode, but it was still a solid episode. The Erica/Bev plot was slow for me. The jail storyline was a lesson for Erica but it was too much for me. However, Barry's storyline really stood out this week. Getting a new dog for the family is what they need. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the last time that she growled at him with his occasional annoying personality. Do not forget to watch The Goldbergs on Wednesday nights at 8:30/7:30c between The Middle and Modern Family. If you missed this episode or any of the episodes, watch the episodes from the beginning on Hulu Plus. The subscription is worth the money.
