Supergirl - Stronger Together - Advance Preview and Teasers: "Let the training begin"
2 Nov 2015
DV Reviews SupergirlSupergirl premiered last week with a pilot that I consider a strong start to the series. Fortunately, the second episode keeps up the quality and also improves on several points. For those of you that were iffy about the show's pilot, I recommend you check out this episode as well.
Episode 2 is all about training. As we saw in the pilot, Kara (Melissa Benoist) has embraced her superhero identity and now she does not want to waste a minute of her new life. However, Kara is still far from being a perfect superhero. In fact, she continues to make quite a few missteps in this episode, which impacts the way the media talks about Supergirl. It also leads to Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) criticizing Supergirl, with Kara defending her alter ego. It's clear Kara needs more training to improve the way she uses her powers and how she can win during fights. She gets help from both James (Mehcad Brooks) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan), and also receives personal training at the DEO with help from her sister Alex (Chyler Leigh).
Of course, there is a villain to fight in this episode. This week that would be Hellgrammite (Justice Leak). He is an insect-like creature that breaks into some chemical companies. Like last week's villain Vartox (Owain Yeoman), Hellgrammite is one of the prisoners who escaped from the Kryptonian prison Fort Rozz. What his motives are remains to be seen.
Here are a few more teasers from "Stronger Together":
-Laura Benanti returns in her dual role of Alura Zor-El and General Astra. Alura appears in both flashbacks and another hologram, while Astra shows herself in the present timeline.
-We are introduced to Maxwell Lord (Peter Facinelli) in this episode.
-There will be some more references to Superman.
-Cat wants an interview with Supergirl and orders James to get it done for her. Is Kara willing to sit down with her boss?
-We also learn some things about Hank Henshaw (David Harewood).
"Stronger Together" airs Monday at 8/7c on CBS. Below you can find a promo for the episode and the rest of the season.
