There is a behind the scenes change on the MTV horror series Scream as it heads into a second season. Michael Gans and Richard Register have been brought in as new showrunners, replacing at the helm Jill Blotevogal and Jaime Paglia. Blotevogal, who wrote the final version of the pilot script, will stay on as a consultant while Paglia is exiting.
I hear the decision for a showrunner change was made in conjunction with MTV’s July renewal of Scream — a series adaptation of the hit teen movie franchise — for a second season. However, Blotevogal and Paglia’s role on the show going forward was unclear as a final decision on that was going to be made with input from the new showrunners who had not been identified at the time.
