NBC has put into development a university-set hourlong drama penned by former Resurrection writer Jessica Mecklenburg that has Rod Lurie attached to direct the pilot and executive produce. The project, titled Fated, is from Michael Eisner’s Tornante TV and Universal Television.
The plot revolves around two brothers at the top of their game — one the president of a Texas university and the other, the revered football coach — and the sex scandal that threatens to unravel their family legacy.
Mecklenburg is currently a co-executive producer on Netflix’s upcoming Stranger Things, the supernatural period drama series written and directed by Matt and Ross Duffer and executive produced by Shawn Levy. She previously wrote on Resurrection, the supernatural drama for ABC that lasted two seasons.
