In a call with the press, which included SpoilerTV, Jean Smart confirmed that creator Noah Hawley is in the early stages of "planning" the next season of Fargo.
When asked whether the third installment would feature the backstory of a current character, Smart said she was unsure of where Hawley and FX wanted to take the series. Unable to say much more, the actress said she's "envious" of any actors cast in the next season.
Smart can currently be seen playing Floyd Gerhardt, the matriarch of the Gerhardt crime family, in FX's critically acclaimed series based on the Cohen brothers' 1996 film.
The second season of Fargo continues Monday at 10 pm EST on FX.
