CSI: Cyber- Gone In 6 Seconds- Review
Nov 9, 2015
CSI: Cyber LK ReviewsIf last season's roller coaster hacking episode seemed a little too far-fetched for you, you're probably going to roll your eyes when you hear about this week's installment of CSI: Cyber.
The case of the week saw Avery, Elijah, and Nelson flying to Los Angeles to deal with an illegal street racer with a taste for destruction. Unfortunately, nabbing the guy proves to be a little tougher than you would think it might be. The perp in this episode never actually steps into the cars he races. Rather, he controls them remotely from behind a computer screen.
Just when you thought this show was successfully redeeming itself this season, it produces a kooky episode like this. You have to give the writers and the cast points, though: as evidenced in this episode, they seem to take the subject matter very seriously, even if it does come across as a little out of this world. The attempt at verisimilitude on the actors' part is much appreciated this week, as it helps makes this outlandish installment seem a little less nuts.
The coda to this week's episode featured Avery accepting Simon Sifter's old Deputy Director position, despite her refusal to take it in the season premiere. Like the subplot from last week's episode that saw Avery reuniting with her deceased daughter's friend, this scene was awkwardly tacked on to the end of the hour with very little build-up or development. Also, I don't know why they would have Avery turn down the position, not mention the fact that she did for several weeks, then randomly have the Director give the position to her part of the way into the season. In my eyes, the plot was not handled all that well.
