The Leftovers - Orange Sticker - Advanced Preview
22 Oct 2015
GN Reviews The LeftoversI had a great opportunity to watch episode four of The Leftovers and after viewing the first three hours I couldn't wait to hit play. I particularly enjoyed the way episode 3 ended with Tom confessing he could hug people's pain away a la Holy Wayne. Episodes one and two both dealt with the main families of the second season, the Garvey's and the Murphy's, but from differing perspectives. The remaining episodes now should all deal with a little more of the mystery of what happened with Evie and her two friends as well as the miracle that is Jarden.
Episode four starts off at the moment the earthquake begins to tremble. This is the same earthquake that occurred at the same time Evie and her friends disappeared from the pond. The whole town is up in arms over it and you will see how John, Erika and Michael deal with what happened to their daughter and sister.
The episode is a little intense as Kevin has a few pieces of evidence that could tie him to the scene of the disappearance. The hour mostly follows Kevin around and is more of a Kevin-centric episode, but all of the characters from episodes one and two have scenes and none of them are small.
We learn a little more about why Reverend Matt and his wife, Mary, are in Jarden and what happened when they arrived, but it is not the whole story. I am pretty sure we will get an episode later on dedicated to that story line, which I am very much looking forward to seeing. However, for now, we get a taste as to what they have gone through and possibly learn what truly happened to them both.
Things To Notice
- It's no spoiler saying that Patti is in the episode. Everyone knows that Kevin is hallucinating her...or is he?
- Evie's gift to her dad, John, makes a few appearances in this episode. Can you figure out what's inside?
- I've said it before and I will say it again - Th Leftovers has the best music selection of any show, ever.
- Pillar Man might have special powers.
- I have said before that water plays an important role in the show. Can you spot all of the water references?
