Scene Of The Week - October 18, 2015 + POLL

18 Oct 2015

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.

CASTLE, "What Lies Beneath...", October 12, 2015, Actors: Stana Katic, Susan Sullivan, The Scene: Kate and Martha talk at the precinct
Jimmy Ryan:
Martha interrupts Kate as she poured bad coffee down the sink at the precinct. Martha has always been a voice of wisdom in this series but this was one of her finest moments in the show's 8 years. Susan Sullivan did an amazing job and had a great script to work with.

DOCTOR WHO, "The Girl Who Died", October 17, 2015, Actors: Peter Capaldi, Maisie Williams and more, The Scenes: The Doctor remembers why he chose his new face & Ashildr becomes the Hybrid
Justyna K:
I knew that one day the Doctor will remember, but not like this, not now. This was such a brilliant surprise in a truly fantastic episode. I love the meaning behind the Doctor's new face, the reason why he chose it, even if he couldn't recall it at first. He chose it to remember, to remember that even if he can't save everyone, every single person he can save is absolutely worth it. And he should always try. He's the Doctor and above all, above protecting time, he's saving people. That's just who he is, that's what his name has always meant. And seeing Ten and Donna again was just a brilliant choice in this story. I can't even tell you how much I miss these two together. The most heartwarming and memorable moment of the episode and I'm so glad I found the time to watch it before finishing the article. Kudos to all the clever people behind this great hour of Doctor Who! I can't wait to see what's next, especially considering that ending.
Owen Bush: The revelation of Ashildr being a hybrid, slowly tying the seams for the series-arc plot for this year. The beautiful moment as she faces the ever-changing sun as she immortally lives through light and dark, at-first, she seems happy, but that happiness slowly turns into sadness, terror and rage. Incredible music, incredible writing, another absolutely brilliant episode this series. Also, Maisie Williams continues to show why she deserves her enormous fame from GOT.

FARGO, "Waiting for Dutch", October 12, 2015, Actors: Kieran Culkin, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, The Scenes: Shootout at the diner & Rye gets hit by the car & Ed discovers the truth about Peggy's 'hit and take home'
Ben L:
After Rye killed everyone in the diner, he got run over by someone unusual. Towards the end, it was Peggy, which caused her and Ed to throw and hide his dead body. DarkUFO: Shootout at the diner.
Darth Locke: Ed discovers the truth about Peggy's 'Hit and take Home'...

HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER, "Skanks Get Shanked", October 15, Actors: Viola Davis, Jack Falahee, The Scene: Annalise confronts Connor
A Dahne:
Annalise knocks Connor down a few pegs after he gets self-righteous on her. I know Connor is a fan favorite, but he can also be the most whiny character on the show, forever shifting blame on others. It was great to see Annalise shut him down and knock him back to earth.

LIMITLESS, "Page 44", October 13, 2015, Actor: Jake McDorman
The Scene: Brian's discovery at the end
Darth Locke:
Brian discovers the FBI knew that Rebecca's father, Conrad Harris, was an NZT user.

MARVEL'S AGENTS OF SHIELD, "A Wanted (Inhu)man", October 13, 2015, Actors: Elizabeth Henstridge, Adrianne Palicki, The Scene: Jemma reveals she has to go back through the portal
Sandi:
Jemma's recovery this week was handled well, I came close to picking the scene where Fitz showed her around the lab where we saw glimpses of how brash and loud everything was for her. When rewatching the episode it becomes obvious that the remains of the portal don't evoke the same kind of reaction as the rest of the laboratory, so this final scene actually makes a lot of sense. Once the other 'distractions' are not there she has gone to study the rocks in order to find her way back to the other world. But why? Roll on episode 3.05!!

ONCE UPON A TIME, "Siege Perilous", October 11, 2015, Actors: Jennifer Morrison, Robert Carlyle, The Scene: Emma tells Gold she is going to make him a hero
Sandi:
Now Gold has woken up from his coma I'm hoping there is going to be many more scenes with two versions of Robert Carlyle in after seeing this one! This season has finally got the show back on track after a bit of a bumpy ride recently, and while this twist isn't exactly unexpected, I'm looking forward to seeing both Carlyle and Morrison play the reversed roles pitted against each other.

ROSEWOOD, "Vandals and Vitamins", October 14, 2015, Actors: Morris Chestnut, Lorraine Toussaint, The Scene: Rosewood and his mother reconcile
A Dahne:
Rosewood and his mother reconcile and he offers her a place in his company. I am a big fan of parents and kids reconciling and this one was particularly sweet because they both owned their part in the mess. Plus having Mama Rosewood in the office means we get to see more of her.

SUPERNATURAL, "Form and Void", October 14, 2015, Actor: Jared Padalecki and more, The Scenes: Sam's prayer & Baby Amara shows off her supernatural powers
Justyna K:
After the first two episodes of the season, Supernatural is off to a good start with the brothers united against the common enemy and going back to their family's original business - first of all: saving people. This week Jared Padalecki really stole the show, he did such a wonderful work with Sam's struggle to find the cure. But the most memorable scene of the episode has to be Sam's prayer. After everything Winchesters have been through, it's quite a miracle they still manage to hold on to hope. But the thing these two always care about the most is each other. So of course, in this prayer, Sam doesn't even want to ask for the help for himself but like they always do, he's trying to look out for his brother, who he believes deserves better. Asking for a sign when surrounded by the darkness leads Sam to a horrifying memory but it ends up being the first step to him getting better. Kudos to Jared for a very emotional performance and making us all remember exactly what a great character Sam Winchester truly is. Here's to the next episode!
A Dahne: Baby Amara shows off her supernatural powers by throwing her blocks into the wall and demanding to be fed. No one does creepy, evil kids like Supernatural. I knew we were in for a doozy of a childcare scene when she had the Mark of Cain, but the blocks were a special creepy touch.

THE FLASH, "Flash of Two Worlds", October 13, 2015, Actors: Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh and more, The Scenes: Dr Harrison Wells is introduced in Earth-2 & Cisco reveals his abilities to Dr. Stein
Sandi: I loved this quick look at Earth-2, it's gorgeously stylised and can't wait to see more of it on the show. It's also great to see Wells back and to start speculating about him and what Tom's role will be this season. At the moment my early suspicions are that Alt!Barry could be Zoom, with either Patty or Francine being some kind of plant from Earth-2, or at the very least they could be switched over for them at some point. I had been slightly concerned that after such a fantastic first season the second may not be as compelling, but so far it has been superb.
Ben L: Cisco revealing his abilities to Dr. Stein.

THE GOOD WIFE, "Innocents", October 11, 2015, Actors: Alan Cumming, Chris Noth
The Scene: Eli apologizes to Peter (picked by Darth Locke)

THE ORIGINALS, "You Hung the Moon", October 15, 2015, Actors: Phoebe Tonkin, Joseph Morgan, The Scene: Hayley confronts Klaus
Justyna K:
I have to admit, I don't watch the show regularly, only once in a while if I hear some good things about the episode. I am glad I've seen this one as the confrontation between Hayley and Klaus turned out to be a brilliant scene and exactly what I wanted from the series. Phoebe Tonkin gave one of her most powerful performances in this hour as Hayley desperately tries to get to her daughter, to see her at least for a moment before her curse will make her leave the child once again. But when confronted with Klaus, a person responsible for much of her pain she goes after him in a heartbeat. First she lets her anger take over and furiously attacks him, screaming about what he's done and how many people he hurt, until finally she breaks down. And heartbroken Hayley realizes her daughter is standing right behind her and she missed her baby learning how to walk and so many other things she should have seen in the past months. The view of a mother willing to do anything for a child and then being forced to be apart from her kid is always a painful one for me. All the little things, the actors' expressions and the writing made it even more powerful and probably one of the most memorable moment of the show.

THE WALKING DEAD, "First Time Again", October 11, 2015, Actors: Lennie James, Melissa McBride and more, The Scenes: The Herd Break Free (picked by DarkUFO) & Morgan is suspicious about Carol (picked by Ben L)
