    -Ratings Breakdown:
CBS, as expected, scored an easy Thursday overnight victory care of the Baltimore Ravens at the Pittsburgh Steelers on “Thursday Night Football” at an estimated 10.3 rating/17 share in households from 8:30-11:30 p.m. ET. Comparably, this was 14 percent above the 9.0/16 for the Washington Redskins at the New York Giants one week earlier, and that translated into 16.88 million viewers and a 6.0 rating/20 share in adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day data for the CBS coverage.

The “Thursday Night Football” kick-off scored an estimated 5.8/10 (#2) in the 8 p.m. half-hour. Results for any live sporting event are always approximate, of course.

Second overall for the evening was ABC’s TGIT female-driven line-up of “Grey’s Anatomy” (#2: 6.4/10), “Scandal” (#2: 6.7/11) and “How To Get Away With Murder” (#2: 5.8/10), which dipped by on average by 16 percent in the overnights from premiere week and 18 percent from the year-ago evening. Even so, this is still a positive for ABC given the competition.

In season premiere news, “The Blacklist” on NBC opened season three with a competitive 5.3/ 8 in the overnights from 9-10 p.m., which was 56 percent above the 8:30 p.m. portion of lead-in “Heroes Reborn” (3.4/ 5) and 38 percent above the year-ago series premieres of failed sitcoms “Bad Judge (4.4/ 7 on 10/02/14) and “A To Z” (3.3/ 5). That led into a 3.3/ 6 (#3) for “The Player” at 10 p.m., which slid by 37 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of “The Blacklist” (5.2/ 8). Last week, a 3.5/ 6 debut in the overnights for “The Player” translated into 4.86 million viewers and a 1.2/ 4 in adults 18-49 (based on the Live + Same Day data).

“Heroes Reborn,” meanwhile, averaged a 3.6/ 5 in the 8 p.m. hour, which is respectable given it faces football and “Grey’s Anatomy.” Comparably, this was 12 percent above the 3.2/ 5 for former time period occupant “The Biggest Loser” on the year-ago evening. One week earlier, “Heroes Reborn” opened with a 4.4/ 7 for a two-hour installment, which resulted in 6.09 million viewers and a 2.0/ 6 in adults 18-49 (based on the Live + Same Day data).

Also opening their seasons last night was Fox’s veteran “Bones” (#3: 3.7/ 6), which was 14 percent below the 4.3/ 7 on the year-ago evening; and “Sleepy Hollow,” which dipped to a mere 2.2/ 3 in the 9 p.m. hour. Comparably, “Sleepy Hollow” was 24 percent below the series-premiere premiere of short-lived “Graceland” on the year-ago evening (2.9/ 5 on 10/02/14).

The CW populated this second Thursday of the new TV season with encore telecasts of “The Flash” (#5: 0.8/ 1) and “Arrow” (#5: 0.5/ 1).
