The overnights are your first look at what to potentially expect when the other results come in. And we always take into account other benchmarks including the expected demographic ratings, potential DVR usage, the critical acclaim (or lack of) and the social media presence. Keep in mind, as always, that results for any live sporting event are always approximate.

-Ratings Breakdown:
The Philadelphia Eagles at the Carolina Panthers on “Sunday Night Football” led NBC to another easy overnight victory with an estimated 13.6 rating/22 share in households from 8:30-11:45 p.m. Comparably, this was seven percent below the 14.6/23 for New England vs. Indianapolis one week earlier and that translated into 22.82 million viewers and an 8.2 rating/23 share in adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day data.
Earlier in the evening on NBC was pre-game “Football Night in America” at a 2.1/ 4 at 7 p.m. (#4), a 4.5/ 8 at 7:30 p.m. (#2) and a dominant 9.0/15 in the 8 p.m. half-hour. As a reminder, results for any live sporting event are always estimated. As long as there is football, NBC owns Sunday.
CBS, which is approximate per program given some football overruns in the 7 p.m. half-hour, opened with granddaddy “60 Minutes” at a 7.8/13 in the 7 p.m. hour (#2), followed by older skewing dramas “Madam Secretary” (#2: 7.8/12), “The Good Wife” (#2: 6.6/10) and “CSI: Cyber” (#2: 4.7/ 8) from 8-11 p.m. When parent “CSI” ended on Sept. 15, the whole franchise should have officially concluded.
Elsewhere, Fox benefited by the hefty 15.9/27 for a football overrun at 7 p.m. into post-game “The OT” at an 8.0/13 (#2) at 7:30 p.m. The regularly scheduled 8-10 p.m. comedy block – “The Simpsons” (#3: 4.4/ 7), “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (#4: 3.0/ 4), “Family Guy” (#3t, 2.6/ 4) and “Last Man on Earth” (#4: 2.2/ 3) – all got a boost from the added lead-in support.
On ABC, freshman “Quantico” earned its full season renewal with a 3.9/ 7 in the overnights at 10 p.m. (#3) coming in 50 percent above also freshman “Blood & Oil” (#3, 2.6/ 4 at 9 p.m.), which just had its episode order slashed from 13 to 10. Earlier in the evening was veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (#3: 3.2/ 5 at 7 p.m.), now hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro, into “Once Upon a Time” (#4: 3.2/ 5 at 8 p.m.), which year-to-year slipped by 24 percent.
