CBS led in the Tuesday household overnights, but it was not a clean sweep like last week. Veteran “NCIS” topped the night, of course, with a 9.9 rating/15 share at 8 p.m. And that led into a dominant 7.6/12 for spin-off “NCIS: Orleans” at 9 p.m. Both scripted hours, however, were down from both one week earlier and the year-ago week.
Week four of Eye net drama “Limitless” ultimately tied the season-premiere of NBC’s competing “Chicago Fire,” each with a 5.0/ 8 in the overnights from 10-11 p.m. But “Chicago Fire” will have no trouble winning the time period in all the key demos, and was up by 56 percent from “Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris” one week earlier (3.2/ 6 on Oct. 6). “Limitless,” in contrast, dipped by 18 percent from last week (versus a 6.1/11).
Despite not having the benefit of leading out of “The Voice,” “Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris” moved into the 8 p.m. hour with a 3.1/ 5 in the overnights (#2), which was just one-tenth of a rating point behind the 3.2/ 6 at 10 p.m. last week.
Rounding off the night for NBC was “The Voice” at a 7.0/11 (#2) in the 9 p.m. hour, which will certainly lead the evening in adults 18-49.
Over at ABC, “The Muppets” continues to fade at a 3.1/ 5 at 8 p.m. (#2), which should result in about a 1.7 rating in adults 18-49. Consider this a major disappointment. Next was sophomore sitcom “Fresh Off the Boat” at a 3.0/ 5 at 8:30 p.m. (#3), followed by “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” (#3: 2.5/ 4 – down 14 percent from last week) and a repeat of “Shark Tank” (#3: 1.8/ 3) from 9-11 p.m.
Fox had an abysmal Tuesday night showing care of series lows for recently introduced sitcoms “Grandfathered” (#5: 2.4/ 4) and “The Grinder” (#5: 2.0/ 3) and social media popular dramedy “Scream Queens” (#4: 1.9/ 3) from 8-10 p.m. And The CW’s pairing of “The Flash” (#4: 2.5/ 4) and “iZombie” (#5: 0.9/ 1) dropped by 7 and 18 percent, respectively.
