Note: The following labels are based on the household overnights and are subject to change given the availability of other pending data streams. The overnights are your first look at what to potentially expect when the other results come in. And we always take into account other benchmarks including the expected demographic ratings, potential DVR usage, the critical acclaim (or lack of) and the social media presence. Keep in mind, as always, that results for any live sporting event are always approximate.

-Ratings Breakdown:
Note: AMC featured the sixth season premiere of “The Walking Dead,” which aired from 9-10:30 p.m.
Football dominated the network landscape, of course, with the San Francisco 49ers vs. the New York Giants on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” at an estimated 13.1 rating/22 share in the overnight households from 8:30-11:45 p.m. Comparably, this was 11 percent below the Dallas Cowboys at the New Orleans Saints one week earlier (and that translated into 24.18 million viewers and an 8.7 rating/26 share in adults 18-49, based on the Live + Same Day data).
Earlier in the evening on NBC was pre-game “Football Night in America” at a 1.7/ 3 (#3) at 7 p.m., a 4.8/ 8 at 7:30 p.m. (#2) and a 7.6/13 in the 8 p.m. half-hour.
A primetime football overrun on CBS, meanwhile, scored a 16.0/29 in the 7 p.m. half-hour, leading into late starts – all approximate – for “60 Minutes” (#1: 11.2/18 from 7:30-8:30 p.m.), “Madam Secretary” (#2: 8.1/12 from 8:30-9:30 p.m.), “The Good Wife” (#2: 6.4/10 from 9:30-10:30 p.m.) and sophomore “CSI: Cyber” (4.4/ 8 from 10:30-11:30 p.m.). At this point, CBS just needs to fully retire the “CSI” franchise.
Over at ABC, the early cancellation clock could be ticking on 9 p.m. drama “Blood & Oil,” which (opposite the aforementioned “Walking Dad” season opener on AMC) slipped to a 2.8/ 4 from 9-10 p.m., which was 15 percent below the 3.3/ 5 one week earlier. And that 3.3 rating in the household overnights only resulted in 5.27 million viewers and a 1.3/ 3 in adults 18-49 (based on the Live + Same Day data).
The third episode of lead-out “Quantico” slipped by 15 percent week to week in the overnights, but a 4.0/ 7 in the 10 p.m. hour (#3) was still a hefty 43 percent above “Blood & Oil.” Last week, “Quantico” built from “Blood & Oil” by 46 percent in adults 18-49 (1.9/ 6 vs. 1.3/ 3), and there is every reason to believe ABC will find a better time period.
Earlier in the evening on ABC was the season premiere of “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” now hosted by Alfonso Ribeiro, at a 3.2/ 6 in the overnights from 7-8 p.m. (#2), which was on par from the year-ago season opener. And it led into “Once Upon a Time” at a diluted 3.1/ 5 from 8-9 p.m., which slipped by 33 percent from the 4.6/ 7 one year earlier.
Fox, meanwhile, was well below average (and ranked fourth in each of its six half-hours) care of its line-up of a repeat of “The Grinder” (1.6/ 3), just renewed “Bob’s Burgers” (1.5/ 2), “The Simpsons” (2.0/ 3), “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (1.8/ 3), “Family Guy” (1.9/ 3) and “Last Man on Earth” (1.8/ 3). While these sitcoms are certainly not dependent on the household overnights, results this low will certainly not translate well elsewhere.
