Madam Secretary returns with an all-new episode this Sunday. The episode is titled "The Doability Doctrine" and sees Elizabeth dealing with a kidnapped State Department employee.
That employee is Tom Garrity, and he is taken hostage in Afghanistan. The kidnappers strangely enough demand to speak to Elizabeth herself in Kabul. While Elizabeth is ready to give in, President Dalton disagrees and won't allow her to travel to Afghanistan. The situation leads to quite some tension between the Secretary of State and the President, which increases even more when it becomes clear who the captors are and what they want.
Meanwhile, Henry continues with his DIA mission to recruit Dmitri Petrov. However, there are complications that might impact the mission. When it becomes clear Henry might not be able to recruit Dmitri, Jane Fellows turns her eye back to Ivan. Henry is still against recruiting him, and he might just find a way to recruit Dmitri after all.
-Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albrigh guest stars as herself. She gives Elizabeth some advice on how to deal with the kidnapping situation and the President's opinion.
-There is also some tension between Elizabeth and newly appointed National Security Advisor Craig Sterling.
-Remember when, in episode 3 of last season, Henry was asked by Russian Foreign Minister Anton Gorev to give his daughter Olga a higher grade? We will actually meet Olga in this episode and Gorev will also return.
-Additionally, there are some problems with Russian President Pavel Ostrov.
-Henry and Elizabeth think the President should know about Harrison's drug problem, so they ask Stevie to talk to him. Harrison will also return in the episode.
-The episode kicks off a new storyline that I'm pretty excited about.
"The Doability Doctrine" airs Sunday at 8/7c on CBS. Watch a promo for the episode below.
