This week's episode allowed viewers the rare opportunity to go home with Raven Ramirez. Of all the members of this show's cast, Raven has received the least character development thus far, so it was nice to finally learn a little more about her life.
The case of the week focused on Tracy, a friend of Raven's dealing with a cyberstalker hellbent on ruining her life. Why? Well, she turned him down at a bar. He didn't appreciate that too much. Obviously, going on a murderous hacking spree is the warranted course of action (that's sarcasm, folks). Despite the rather outrageous nature of the case, the show's writers were able to make it work. The cheesiness was successfully kept to a minimum.
This week's episode also introduced a plot involving an investigation into the proprietor of a revenge porn site. Unfortunately, the team is unable to make much headway with this case, leaving the plot hanging by episode's end. Hopefully, the show will pick up on this plot in future episodes. The legality of revenge porn is such a complicated issue. There is a lot of story to mine with something like this. The show's writers would be behooved to take advantage of the wealth of possibility a plot like this brings.
Also welcome this week was the introduction of actor Christopher Cousins as Mason Lynne, legal counsel for the FBI's Cyber Division. Although he and Avery seem to have a good working relationship, the two butt heads at times, as seen in this week's episode when Avery decides not to play by the book in her investigation of Tracy's stalker. The back and forth between Mason and Avery in this episode gave the show something it was lacking last season, despite Simon Sifter's role as Avery's boss. Hopefully, this is not the last we've seen of Cousins or his character.
Although I'm glad we were finally able to confirm that DB has gotten a divorce since coming to Quantico, I'm not too happy the decision was made to split up the character and his wife. On the CSI mothership, DB was the first character who seemed to have it all. Unlike Gil Grissom and Catherine Willows, DB was able to achieve a good balance between working as a CSI and being a family man. The decision to divorce the character from Barbara is not one that seems to make much sense. Despite their struggles, the two always seemed to have a strong bond. This development seems to have come out of left field. Hopefully, we will learn more about it as the season progresses.
