The Whispers - Game Over - Review

What a suspenseful season finale that was! Looking back at the entire season it was very captivating and it did not disappoint. With great characters and some crazy plot twists I can’t believe the first season of The Whispers is over already. The season finale was a great cliffhanger episode that left me wanting more!
As soon as they imprison Drill he was talking about them not having all the answers. Not long after that Drill self-disintegrates. My first thought was that it was just too easy for him, so this all had to be leading up to something major happening. Sure enough there was a whole piece to the puzzle that we were missing. There were more kids that were affected by Drill back in the 1980’s. I don’t know how I didn’t see that coming, considering Drill had so many kids at his beck and call. One thing I didn’t really understand was that the kids from 1980’s turned into to brain washed adults? Does that mean the same will happen to Henry and the other children that weren’t taking away?

One major thing that bugged me was how Henry and Minx were so easily manipulated by Drill. After everything that they had been through, especially Minx losing her mom, they were still where loyal to Drill. I would have thought that Minx would have been stronger than that and would have ended up helping Wes, Claire and Sean fight Drill. Using sign language to communicate with Henry also didn’t make sense to me. For a minute there I thought that he had lost his hearing again but that’s not the case. Claire was using sign language to get Henry to respond to her. That was a little misleading and confusing considering Henry tricked them all in the end. I wonder if he came to in the end or if that was all an act. So many questions left unanswered.

My favourite moment in this episode was watching Wes showing of his crazy martial art moves when he took down the guys in the house. I also loved the scene when Claire was about to be stabbed and Wes showed up just in time to stop it. Where was that tough guy hiding? Up until that moment I viewed Sean as the tough guy and Wes more as a paper pusher. Don’t get me wrong I love both Wes and Sean’s characters but it was really great to get those scenes. I also have to give props to all the kid actors in this show. They all did a great job of making me very suspicious of them and also very creeped out by them, mainly I’m thinking about Harper and Minx. The concept of this show was great and there were so many elements that I enjoyed and the acting was very well done and believable!

That ending! I didn’t see that ending coming at all. I love how this show kept surprising me with the direction they were taking it. During the finale episode titled, Game Over, I kept being remind of X-Files, especially at the end where claire sacrifices herself to save Henry. Though most of the time I’m bothered by cliffhangers, especially when a show hasn’t been picked up yet, I absolutely loved this ending. If it is announced that the show is cancelled I be severely disappointed though. I’m very hopeful that we’ll get a second season to see what's going to happen next. Will Claire return and why did these aliens want to take the kids? So many questions and not enough answers. Do you think it's "Game Over" for The Whispers?
