There are only five episodes remaining this season for The Strain and the ninth one airs this Sunday night. I was fortunate enough to be able to view "The Battle For Red Hook" as an early screener was given to us form FX and was glad to see that The Strain is getting better in quality as it progresses through the story and second arc of this second season. There is even a new and improved title sequence that gives it more of a 'comic book' like feel, which I believe is much better than the original.
Since the start of this season we have seen Kelly longing for her son Zach to return to her care and with Eichorst's aid she has been given ample opportunity to retrieve her 'dear one'. However, Kelly has had trouble in carrying out every plan to get Zach to her, and The Master's, side. The episode this Sunday will show what looks like a more coordinated effort on the part of Eichorst and Kelly to retrieve Zach for whatever purposes they desire (we are still unsure as to what, exactly, The Master needs Zach for, but even money is that it is just to be a bargaining chip against Eph and Set).
The entire episode revolves around Red Hook and Eichorst's attempts to take control of the relatively small New York neighborhood of Red Hook. Councilwoman Justine Feraldo leads a large police force against the strigoi with the help of our heroes as they are attacked just after dusk. There is a great showdown between a couple of the main characters that will no doubt set the tone for the final few episodes of the season.
I hope you all enjoy the episode on Sunday night! I will have a review of the episode up in the days following where we can discuss the episode and the season further. Have a great weekend everyone!
