Rafael de la Fuente — whose Michael Sanchez exited Jamal’s life, and the Fox ratings smash, after Season 1, Episode 7 — confirmed to TVLine that not only will he be back for the show’s sophomore premiere, but that he’s already shot four episodes.
“I can’t wait for the audience to see Jamal and Michael’s new dynamic,” the actor told TVLine from Empire‘s red-carpet premiere event in New York City this weekend. “I think they’re going to like it.”

22:00 - Starz Acquires Stephen Poliakoff’s ‘Close To The Enemy’ Miniseries
Starz has acquired exclusive U.S. premium rights to Close To The Enemy, a six-episode original miniseries written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff (Dancing On The Edge) with Helen Flint (Longford), Hilary Bevan Jones (Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot) and Colin Callender (Wolf Hall) serving as executive producers. It’s slated to premiere on BBC Two in the UK and Starz in the U.S. in 2016.
Set in a bomb-damaged London hotel during the aftermath of World War II, thriller Close To The Enemy stars Jim Sturgess (One Day) as British intelligence officer Captain Callum Ferguson, whose last task for the Army is to ensure that a captured German scientist, Dieter (August Diehl, Inglourious Basterds), hands over secret cutting-edge military technology crucial to national security. Callum employs unorthodox methods in his attempt to convince Dieter to work for the British, developing a friendship with him, which is soon threatened as the German’s involvement in the Nazi war machine may be more than it initially seems.

21:00 - MOVIES: Mary Poppins - Disney Developing New Original Musical, Rob Marshall (Into The Woods) to Direct
EW has learned that Disney is developing a new original live-action musical film featuring the beloved magical nanny, Mary Poppins. The studio is bringing back Into the Woods director Rob Marshall and producers John DeLuca and Marc Platt, who successfully shepherded Stephen Sondheim’s Broadway tuner to the big screen for Disney last year.
The new Poppins film will take place in Depression-era London, some 20 years after Disney’s classic Mary Poppins, and will draw from existing Poppins tales in the rest of author P.L. Travers’ 1934-1988 children’s book series. The practically perfect 1964 screen adaptation starring Julie Andrews pulled its story primarily from the first installment in Travers’ eight-book series; the new project (which is decidedly not being developed as a sequel) will explore Mary’s further adventures with the Banks family and beyond as illustrated by Travers’ seven additional novels.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: With all your comic books, and the new companion series, and Outcaston Cinemax, and the Transformers thing, and putting out Skybound movies like AIR, and everything else, how much time does that leave for you in terms of creative input on The Walking Dead TV show? What is your role like now on the show and how has it changed over the years?
ROBERT KIRKMAN: I’m definitely spending less time on set. But to be honest, I never really spent all that much time on set anyway. For the most part, though, my role has not changed. I’m an executive producer, and the show is based on the comic series I write, but I’ve always considered myself to be one of the writers on the show, no more important than any of the others. I have input, but the show is a team effort led by Scott Gimple and that hasn’t changed, and that’s always allowed me to have the luxury of doing other things.
We’re hitting a period in the comics that is about Rick taking control of Alexandria, and dealing with threats both internal (like a botched mutiny by Nicholas) and external (like the Scavengers and a herd of zombies that gets through the walls). How much of what we see in season 6 will match up to that? And what will be the biggest difference between what we see in season 6 and this stage of the comics?
Dalton, Dalton, Dalton … I can’t tell you how closely season 6 will follow the comics! We have to keep people guessing. If you’re paying attention, the material around volume 13 or so of the comic series has been getting adapted into the show most recently, but we always reserve the right to stray from the source or even jump back or ahead and do things out of order. All that said, the biggest differences we’ll see revolve around Daryl, who was never in the comic, and Carol, who was long dead and never as cool as the TV version by this point.

Will Amy take advantage of being single now?
This is all new to her and this is as difficult for her as it is for him. He's not making it any easier, so I think they are both feeling their way through this and going through and experiencing feelings and emotions that I don't even think they were expecting.
How is Sheldon handling this rejection?
Not well. He is a man of science and he's been presented with a problem that he can't just think of a solution for. And it's very frustrating. He doesn't immediately turn to anyone for support; instead, he is going to pursue Amy.

Fox’s new legal comedy starring Rob Lowe and Fred Savage has officially named Ben Wexler as the showrunner/executive producer, EW has learned. Wexler — who most recently served as showrunner/executive producer of Billy Crystal’s short-lived FX comedy The Comedians — replaces Greg Malins, who exited the show late last month due to “creative differences.”

The Ray Donovan star will play a panicked father whose daughter is missing. In order to get the cops’ attention, he resorts to desperate measures, including taking a hostage in the police station.

Christopher Gorham has booked his post-Covert Affairs TV gig: He’ll guest-star on NBC’s new drama Heartbreaker, EW has learned exclusively.
Gorham will appear in two episodes as Wyatt Penn, a sculptural artist who was once a financial hedge fund wiz, but who has since left that life a few years ago in search of sanity and to follow his passion. He comes from a wealthy background — his mother is an influential member of the hospital board of directors. Wyatt is a bit of a tortured soul who ran from his past and sees a lot of himself in the erudite and tightly wound Millicent Silvano (Shelley Conn).
