A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.
CONTINUUM, "Power Hour", September 18, 2015, Actors: Omari Newton, Rachel Nichols and more, The Scene: Lucas' death
Justyna K: Betrayal is hard. It's one thing to choose a different side, to lie or make the opposite choice, it's far worse if the person you trusted is responsible for a death of a friend. I can't imagine things ever coming back from this. I admit, I had a hard time believing why Kiera would even trust and care about Brad this quickly but this was much more brutal wake up call than I expected. Poor Lucas. He has really become such a great character, especially since he joined Kiera and Alec. He cared about working for a better future than the one he came from. He gave up his life for his friends. I couldn't have imagined a more honorable way for him to go. I just wish he didn't have to. I'll miss all his funny interactions with the rest of the team, his brilliant ideas and good heart. This was such a shocking scene, but really well done. Kudos to the Continuum team!
DOCTOR WHO, "The Magician's Apprentice", September 19, 2015, Actors: Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman and more, The Scene: Daleks' victory at the end
Justyna K: I wasn't quite sure which scene to choose, it was a great premiere, but went with the most powerful moment - as Clara is killed and TARDIS seemingly destroyed by the Daleks. Of course it's only temporary but it doesn't make it any easier to watch. And the Doctor's reaction says it all. Him begging his archenemy to let Clara go was truly heartbreaking. Also, the TARDIS! Without them, the Doctor really seems powerless and alone at the time, can't wait to see him getting out of this one. And Clara... Clara waiting, trying to think about her next move, ready to run, but hoping for another way out - that's something that will be hard to forget. Poor Doctor, he keeps watching his friends die, a true curse of the Time Lord. Even once he changes time and saves them, this future still happened for him. Brilliant performance by Peter Capaldi. Kudos! Great to have Doctor Who back.
DOMINION, "Bewilderment of Heart", September 17, 2015, Actors: Christopher Egan, Kim Engelbrecht and more, The Scene: Alex saves the day
Justyna K: It was great to see "The Chosen One" saving the day. I liked the fact that the amphora didn't have any effect on him and he was able to control the situation and end Gabriel's attack. All the hallucinations were truly powerful scenes. The saddest thing about them perhaps is how most of the nightmares were simply the truth, the worst thing for many of the characters has already happened. Like Claire lost her baby and Noma had to sacrifice her wings. My choice for Scene of The Week, however, is the part where Alex manages to close the amphora and we see how the truth hits everyone in Vega. Michael stops attacking Noma and Alex comforts her as she breaks down. It's all such a powerful view and a great ending for a really fantastic episode. Kudos!
THE MINDY PROJECT, "While I Was Sleeping", September 15, 2015, Actors: Mindy Kaling, Chris Messina, The Scene: Danny proposes to Mindy
Ben L: It was such a sweet ending to the episode and Mindy deserves to be with him despite his occasionally annoying personality towards her. They are so cute together.
THE STRAIN, "The Assassin", September 13, 2015, Actor: Ruta Gedmintas
The Scene: The final scene of Dutch chained in the feeding room
Prpleight: I remember the feeding scene from season one hence my complete freak out.
