“MISTRESSES” RENEWED FOR FOURTH SEASON ON ABC

Based on the hit UK television series of the same name, “Mistresses” will return for a fourth season in 2016. ABC has ordered 13 episodes of the ABC Studios series which is executive-produced by Rina Mimoun, KJ Steinberg, Robert Sertner and Douglas Rae and stars Yunjin Kim, Rochelle Aytes, Jes Macallan, Brett Tucker and Rob Mayes.

In season three, “Mistresses” averaged 4.4 million total viewers and a 1.3/5 in Adults 18-49. The series delivered strong gains via TV playback over the summer among Adults 18-49, jumping +63% from its initially-reported Live + Same Day number to its final Live +7 Day rating.

The provocative and thrilling drama will continue to focus on the scandalous lives of a sexy and sassy group of girlfriends, each on their own path to self-discovery. When it comes to love, these girlfriends find support and guidance with each other as they push the limits, test their boundaries and discover just how far they are prepared to go. They are willing to brave love’s turbulent journey, as well as its excitement, secrecy and betrayal, all the while bound by the complex relationships they’ve created.

UPDATE: Jennifer Esposito will not be returning to Mistresses when its fourth season debuts next summer, sources tell EW. Esposito, who portrayed fashion designer Calista Raines, was only contracted for one year when she joined the show following Alyssa Milano’s exit. While the show is not yet actively looking to replace her (the season pickup only came through Friday), that could change as the writers’ room figures out what the new season will look like. It is likely her absence will be discussed in the season 4 premiere.
