The SpoilerTV Favourite TV Series Competition 2015 - Day 29 - Quarter-Finals
15 Sept 2015
2015 TV Series Competition Cancelled Shows Game of Thrones Hannibal In The Flesh Major Crimes Person of Interest SupernaturalHey all,
After 28 days, we're down to the last eight in this year's competition. And boy, is it intriguing. Only four from the 16 seeds that began the competition remain today - Game of Thrones, Person of Interest, Buffy and Supernatural.
The third round saw a few big names go out, not the least of which was Arrow and one-time winner Castle. Seeded shows Dominion and FRIENDS (Arrow and Castle were not seeded) also suffered defeat.
The biggest story of the competition thus far is the success of In The Flesh. The British show has taken out NCIS, The Musketeers and Sherlock so far, but faces its toughest task yet as it takes on three-time winner Supernatural today. Could this match signal the end of the fairytale? Only the next 24 hours will tell.
In what is arguably the most exciting match-up of the day, Game of Thrones faces Hannibal. Both shows are well loved here, though Hannibal has gained a fair amount of traction since its cancellation, and it took out Arrow in the previous round.
It's a clash of two seeded shows as Person of Interest takes on Buffy. The CBS drama is looking to secure its third SpoilerTV competition triumph of the summer and it should be very interesting to see how it fares against Buffy today, which took out another popular show - Dominion - in the third round.
Our final poll of the quarter-finals sees Charmed up against Major Crimes. The fanbase for the TNT procedural seems to be growing by the second here at SpoilerTV and it's already beaten Once Upon a Time, The 100 and FRIENDS to make it to this stage. Its opponent, Charmed, has already taken out the defending champion Outlander this year, as well as the much-loved Agents of SHIELD in the last round.
Normally, I'd look at these eight contenders and only see four shows with a real chance of winning. But given how well all of the quarter-finalists have performed and the unpredictability of this competition, particularly this year, I'll open that pool out to all eight contenders. I have no idea who will emerge as victor by the end of the week, and I can't wait to see who it is.
A reminder of the rules:
