The cast of Hulu’s upcoming drama series The Way keeps getting better: EW has learned that Hannibal star Hugh Dancy has been signed to a starring role in the project, joining previously announced actors Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan.
The Way is about a family in a Scientology-like cult that’s led by the charismatic Cal Roberts (Dancy), who becomes entangled in a complicated relationship with two other members of his controversial movement—Sarah (Monaghan) and her conflicted husband, Eddie (Paul). Cal will battle personal demons and bold ambition as he strives to take the organization into its next generation.
And for Hannibal fans reading this wondering, “What does this mean for Will Graham?” The answer is: “Nothing good.” Since NBC axed the acclaimed dark thriller, Hannibal has not secured a new outlet. Most contracts for TV series make the lead actors exclusive to that show. Even if Dancy’s contract is somehow not exclusive, shooting and promoting 10 episode of a series is considered a major time commitment.
