Maria Bello will co-star opposite Billy Bob Thornton in Amazon Studios’ series “Trial,” Variety has learned. The legal drama hails from from David E. Kelley, creator of “The Practice,” “Boston Legal” and “Ally McBeal.”
Bello will play Attorney Julie McBride, the ex-wife to Thornton’s character Billy McBride, a once-respectable lawyer who was ousted from the high-profile firm he co-founded.

22:00 - Urban Cowboy - Jim Belushi Joins Cast of FOX Pilot
Jim Belushi, who can currently be seen on HBO’s Show Me a Hero miniseries, already has his next TV project lined up — in the pilot for Fox’s adaptation of the 1980 John Travolta film Urban Cowboy.
Written and exec-produced by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow), Fox’s “modern reimagining” of the original film will, per the official logline, follow on-the-run rodeo-circuit rider Kyle (played by Sense8‘s Alfonso Herrera) and Gaby, “two star-crossed young lovers, as they pursue their dreams and passions through the sweat of line-dancing in honky-tonks, the grime of the oil refineries and the glamour of modern Texas. It’s about family legacies, starting over, finding true love and the American dream.”
Belushi will play Marshall, a spirited long-haul truck driver-turned-honky-tonk owner, someone who is as much of a Houston institution as his bar Gilley’s. Cooper Huckabee (True Blood) played the role in the 1980 film.

22:00 - American Crime - Season 2 - Emily Bergi to recur
“American Crime” is continuing to build out the cast for its second season, adding “Shameless” star Emily Bergl as a recurring character.
Season two of the ABC show will revolve around a crime set in the high school basketball world when a student accuses several players on a championship team of sexually assaulting him, and then taking photos and posting them online.
The storyline will allow the creative team to explore issues of social economics, education, as well as sexual orientation, Ridley told Variety.
Bergl will play Lillah Tanner, the mother of Eric Lupton (played by Joey Pollari), a basketball player from a working class family who’s attending school on a scholarship. Lillah’s family becomes embroiled in the fallout of alleged sexual assault.
“We’ve had a lot of success bringing in talent with varied backgrounds,” said exec producer John Ridley of Bergl’s casting. “Emily’s done Broadway, television … and being able to get her coming off of ‘Shameless,’ the timing for us was just right. Our show really lives on being able to present as many voices as possible, and Emily simply adds to them.”
