A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.
DARK MATTER, "Episode Eleven", August 21, 2015, Actors: Melissa O'Neil, Marc Bendavid and more, The Scenes: Truth about Two is revealed & The Hypoxia Speech
Justyna K: Two is not human?! I did not see this one coming! There were a few hints along the way, but my guesses were completely missed in the end. Illegal experiments and technology seem to be quite a theme for the show. After all the miraculous healing and skills, we finally got the answer about Two's past. She wasn't born, but created in secret. We still don't know by who and why but we're far closer to the answers than last week and I, for one, did not expect that. The question for both Raza crew and viewers now is certainly whether this truth changes the way everyone sees the ship's leader. Or better yet, should it change things? What a difference such a fact really makes? I can't wait to see what happens next, especially since it's time for the finale. Kudos!
Prpleight J: One tries to rally the guys to break out and save Five. He starts by focusing on the fact that regardless of past secrets or differences they must save Five and reclaim the ship. I loved the editing with One saying that Five was out there helpless...cut to Five drops down from the vent and arming herself. One declares that they must show the bad guys what the men of the Raza are made of...just as Two takes out, well pretty much an entire armed squad on her own. It was a hugely fun sequence for me.
HANNIBAL, "The Number of the Beast Is 666...", August 22, 2015, Actors: Hugh Dancy, Gillian Anderson, The Scene: Will's therapy session with Bedelia
Diana Mack: Will's therapy session with Bedelia reveals his complicated relationship with Hannibal. It was very intense to see how both those characters relates to Dr. Lecter: if there was love between Bedelia and Hannibal, I don't think so, maybe it was platonic. But between Will and Hannibal there's something that goes beyond love. Buddies? Family? It's complicated, also because Graham asks her "Is Hannibal in love with me?" Bravo Bryan Fuller. This season is amazing and I'm so sad it's getting closer to the end.
SUITS, "Uninvited Guests", August 19, 2015, Actors: Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, The Scene: Mike and Harvey have drinks together
Laura Markus: Just like old times, Mike and Harvey had some time together with some hilarious banter to boot. Mike chose to return to the "prostate joke", and many funny lines were delivered. I was so pleased with this scene.
Ben L: It's good to see Mike and Harvey be friends again even though in real life, the actors are buddies.
TEEN WOLF, "Lies of Omission", August 17, 2015, Actors: Tyler Posey, Dylan O'Brien, The Scene: Scott confronts Stiles about Donovan's death
Justyna K: This was without a doubt the most depressing hour in the show's history. Everything went wrong and fell apart. The most powerful, memorable and heartbreaking moment of the episode (and probably the series) is definitely the confrontation between Scott and Stiles, which officially broke the bond between the two and all the fans' hearts into million pieces. And I still can't believe it actually happened. The one thing, the one constant that should always last in the show was the friendship between Scott and Stiles, and even though we can all expect these two will be back together, we'll never be able to take this moment back. And that's... that might be the worst thing about it. I felt so incredibly bad for these two, but I also couldn't help but get increasingly angry with Scott. Obviously, it's not really his fault, or Stiles' (it's yours Theo! Be gone, just go away!) but I just can't imagine that in any situation, under any condition, he actually believed that Stiles was capable of killing a man in cold rage, bashing his head in. I mean, Scott is the one person who should know his best friend better than anyone, so to think he even considered that, didn't try to ask him about what specifically happened... I just find that impossible to process. Also, trusting Theo?! I give up. I keep wishing we could go back and Stiles would just tell Scott what happened in the first place. I understand why he couldn't, but still, "it's always better when they know". Both actors did a fantastic work in the scene. I can't imagine how tough it must have been to shoot, so kudos to the brilliant Dylan O'Brien and Tyler Posey. And to the writers, don't ever do that again! Group hug to all the fans, we need one...
THE BRINK, "Just a Little Crazy Talk", August 16, 2015, Actors: Pablo Schreiber, Eric Ladin
The Scene: Zeke and Glenn get drunk
Ben L: Drunk Scenes between Zeke and Glenn were hilarious!!
THE LAST SHIP, "Friendly Fire", August 16, 2015, Actors: Jocko Sims and more, The Scene: Raitha and Burk in the bathroom
Prpleight J: Raitha reduces Burk to a mumbling ball of goo. The women's shower is unavailable so Raitha needs to use the men's. She starts quizzing Burk about places to have sex on the ship. In his defense, as long as he's able to speak actual words, he does tell her it is not allowed.
