Scene Of The Week - August 2, 2015 - POLL

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.

BABY DADDY, "What Happens in Vegas", July 29, 2015, Actors: Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Derek Theler
The Scene: Danny admits how he feels about Riley to Ben
Klutzy Girl:
Danny finally admits how he feels about Riley to Ben. Hoping this will lead to the resolution of the love triangle and everyone can be happy.

DARK MATTER, "Episode Eight", July 31, 2015, Actor: Marc Bendavid, The Scene: One discovers the truth about his past
Justyna K:
After eight episodes I can honestly say that finding out the truth about each of the character's past is one of the things I enjoy most about the show. And the mystery of who One truly is and how did he end up changing his entire identity to join the crew is probably the one I was most interested in lately. And it looks like we finally know the truth and it explains quite a lot about One's actions and behavior. It appears that after losing his beloved wife, Derrick Moss decided to track down her killer (or at least the main suspect in her death, who just happens to be Marcus Boone) and gave up everything (including his real face) in the process. We don't know the details of his (desperate/insane/clever?) plan but I loved the reveal and can't wait to see what's going to happen next. A great scene to end the episode with, kudos!

HUMANS, "Episode 7", July 26, 2015, Actors: Colin Morgan, William Hurt, Ruth Bradley and more, The Scenes: Everyone works together to save Max & George's death & Beatrice betrays the group
Justyna K:
Brilliant episode, I'm so happy I finally caught up with the show, just in time for the big finale. There were three very memorable scenes I wanted to include in this week's article, all amazingly done, all important and unique for different reasons and since the other two are mentioned already, the choice was simple - I went with the moment when the Hawkins family works together with Leo and his siblings to save Max. First of all, it was great to see everyone reunited at last. And it was a truly powerful view, for a while, all the differences between the two families didn't matter, saving a life of a loved one is such a human act after all. Everyone did their best and offered their support to the others. What got to me the most were probably the little things, like Laura embracing Mia and Toby holding Max's hand, telling him everything is going to be alright and that his family is looking after him. Together they managed to bring Max back, at least gave him a chance at that point. Both powerful and beautiful moment. If only things went better later... I can't wait for the final episode this season (congratulations on getting season 2!), especially after that ending. Kudos to the great cast and crew for their excellent work!
Sandi: There are a few scenes worthy of the accolade in this penultimate episode of the season, but this one effected me on a personal level and hit me the hardest. Watching George earn Niska's trust and respect through the last two episodes has been compelling, to say the least, and I think it's fair to say that she learnt more about humans from him in one day than she ever learnt in her entire nine years thus far. Her own 'father', David Elster, was a man who cared little for her once he had made her and the rest of her family, and the sexual abuse she suffered at his hands (the burden of which she has carried alone all this time) is most likely what started her hatred to all humans in general. Yet George saw through her pain and suffering, and instinctively treated her like a person - reaching out to with concern and support when needed, yet not afraid to speak a few home truths and show tough love when required either. For her to lose George after this brief period of beneficial time together will be something that I think may change her. Losing a father figure is always a subject that I find hard to watch when it's as gut wrenching as this. As for Odi, I had to pause the show for 10 minutes or so to regain my composure after his final words to his owner. Will Tudor's performance there damn near floored me, it was such an incredibly powerful moment. Also picked by Jamie Coudeville
Owen Bush: The slow motion tension as Beatrice betrays the group leading Leo to childish fear is one that will fracture the show completely. Another spellbindingly brilliant moment that suggests Humans is the most fascinating show on TV currently.

KILLJOYS, "Kiss, Kiss, Bye Bye", July 31, 2015, Actors: Aaron Ashmore and more, The Scene: Lucy and Pawter save John
Justyna K:
Another memorable episode this week. All the actors did such an excellent work that there were many scenes I could have included in the article. But nothing hit me as much as the view of Johnny dying and Lucy's reaction to it, not knowing what to do and then calling for help to save his life. For a ship, Lucy sure seems to act almost human at times, especially when it's about John (clearly her favorite!) and I love these little moments. Thankfully Pawter got Lucy's message and got there just in time. The entire "saving Johnny" sequence, including everyone staying by his side in the hospital, was really beautifully done. Such a powerful scene is hard to forget and it's certainly one of my choices for "scene of the week" this time. Kudos to cast and crew!

MAJOR CRIMES, "Hostage to Fortune", July 27, 2015, Actors: Tony Denison, Mary McDonnell, Robert Gossett, The Scene: Andy and Sharon reveal to Taylor that they're dating
Prpleight J:
Andy and Sharon reveal to Deputy Chief Taylor that they are dating. "In the old fashioned sense of the word." Normally I HATE this kind of change in a show but it's not the writers bowing to shippers (which is nearly always a mistake) but the shippers reacting to what this exceptional writing team created.

MELISSA AND JOEY, "Be The Bigger Person", July 29, 2015, Actors: Melissa Joan Hart, Joey Lawrence, The Scene: Mel finds out she's pregnant
Klutzy Girl:
I've been hoping for this and Joe for a few seasons now and I'm so excited it's finally happened even though I'll miss the show once it ends on Wednesday. Their reactions were adorable! Also picked by Ben L

RIZZOLI AND ISLES, "A Bad Seed Grows", July 28, 2015, Actors: Angie Harmon and more
The Scene: Jane stares through the glass into the interview room to the suspect
Donna Chidley:
He smiles and stares back knowing she is there thinking he has got away with it.

TEEN WOLF, "Required Reading", July 27, 2015, Actors: Dylan O'Brien, Shelley Hennig and more, The Scenes: Stiles remembers his mother & Malia confronts Theo at the gym
Jamie Coudeville:
This was such a heartbreaking scene. Stiles now knows that it was because of the dementia, but as a kid he probably didn't understand what was happening. It makes sense that he would've repressed this memory.
Prpleight J: Malia knocks Theo's macho down a notch. She stops by the gym to ask why he kept a secret for her. At one point he's on the butterfly machine. He tries to close the machine and she prevents it. THAT is Coyote Power!

TRUE DETECTIVE, "Church in Ruins", July 26, 2015, Actors: Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and more
The Scenes: The beginning scene with Frank and Ray & Ani stabs the security guard at the sex orgy
Ben L:
The beginning scene with Frank and Ray! That was so intense!
DarkUFO: Ani stabs the security guard at the sex orgy.
