Standen will play Sargent Knox, a rough-around-the-edges military leader who is trying his hardest to control the uncontrollable situation.

20th February 2015 - John Bradley Joins Cast
Yes, the film already stars Doctor Who’s Matt Smith and Game of Thrones’ Natalie Dormer, why not throw more awesome on the fire?
An inside source has revealed to The Mary Sue that Game of Thrones’ John Bradley, aka Samwell Tarly, has joined the cast of Patient Zero.
Bradley will be playing a character named Scooter but still no word on which of the cast is the “lucky” immune human being. However, Patient Zero will be the first time Bradley and Game of Thrones co-star Dormer will share the screen together. The Wall and King’s Landing are pretty far apart, you know?

22nd January 2015 - Stanley Tucci Joins Cast
Stanley Tucci has contracted for the villain role in Screen Gems’ Patient Zero, starring opposite Natalie Dormer and Matt Smith. Stefan Ruzowitzky is directing the Mike Le-scripted action thriller, and Vincent Newman is producing.
In Patient Zero, an unprecedented global pandemic of a super strain of rabies has resulted in the evolution of a new species driven by violence. An inexplicably immune human survivor with the ability to communicate with this new species must spearhead a hunt for Patient Zero in order to find a cure to save his infected wife and humanity.
Tucci plays a deliciously evil role: a professor who becomes infected, and highly violent. He becomes determined to crash the lab that’s working on a cure and thwart the search for Patient Zero. He previously starred in the Screen Gems pics Easy A and Burlesque.

20th November 2014 - Matt Smith Joins Cast
“Doctor Who” alum Matt Smith will star in “Patient Zero,” a Sony spokesperson told TheWrap.
The film also stars Natalie Dormer and follows a human survivors of a global pandemic of rabies. The disease has created a new species driven by violence and an immune survivor must spearhead a hunt for patient zero to find a cure to save humanity.

24th September 2014 - Natalie Dormer Joins Cast
Natalie Dormer has been set to star in Patient Zero, the Screen Gems action thriller that Stefan Ruzowitzky will direct from a script written by Mike Le. Vincent Newman is producing. Dormer has been building feature credits that include The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2, Rush and Captain America: The First Avenger. She is best known for playing Margaery Tyrell, whose short reign as queen on HBO’s Game Of Thrones was interrupted when the tyrant king Joffrey was poisoned during their wedding reception.

Screen Gems has set Stefan Ruzowitzky to direct Patient Zero, a Mike Le-scripted thriller that puts a new spin on the genre film. In the film, an unprecedented global pandemic has resulted in the evolution of a new species. An aggressive form of rabies turns the infected into predators, addicted to violence. An inexplicably gifted human survivor with the ability to speak their new language spearheads a hunt for Patient Zero in order to find a cure to save his infected wife and humanity. Vincent Newman is producing. Production will begin in the summer. When the script was originally sold, there was a zombie element to it, but that has been completely removed in the rewrites, I’m told.

29th October 2013 - Screen Gems Wins Bidding War for Script
In a competitive situation, Screen Gems has acquired Mike Le’s zombie script “Patient Zero,” which is described as a character-driven action-thriller, TheWrap has learned.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, “Patient Zero” features a unique hook — a protagonist with the ability to speak the language of the undead who interrogates zombies with the hopes of finding Patient Zero and a cure for his infected wife.
Terms of the deal are being kept under wraps, but as TheWrap first reported, Screen Gems had stiff competition for the spec, which generated strong response around town before Clint Culpepper decided to take it off the table when it was simply titled “Patient Z.”
