Xena: Warrior Princess' - Reboot in the Works at NBC *Now Confirmed*

Aug 13, 2015

Update 2:
Despite public statements from former star Lucy Lawless, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the network is looking for a way to reboot the beloved series in which she starred as the warrior princess.

"Yes, we're in the early stages of developing a new take on Xena and we're looking for a writer. We want to do it," Greenblatt told THR on Wednesday night at NBCUniversal's Television Critics Association summer press tour party at Spago.

As THR exclusively reported in July, NBCUniversal International is prepping a Xena reboot with original series executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi. Sources tell THR that the new, modern Xena would have to have the charisma and charm of Lawless and the smarts of The Hunger Games' Katniss as producers are said to be looking for a sophisticated and smart superhero for a new generation. The potential series is being eyed for 2016.

Update 1:
Thanks to Nuno and various others for the heads up.

Original Post:
Thanks to Tsukikomew for sending this in.

Twenty years after it first premiered as a Hercules spinoff, Xena: Warrior Princess could be returning to television.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that NBC and NBC Universal International are prepping a reboot of the beloved Lucy Lawless action-adventure drama. The drama is in the extremely early development stages and a search for a writer is currently underway. Original executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi are also involved in the project, which is considered as a "modern reboot." It's unclear what, if any, role original star Lawless would have, though sources tell THR that insiders would like the original star to have both a role on screen and behind the scenes. The drama is eyed for 2016. It's too early to know if Xena 2.0 would be a limited 13-episode run similar to Fox's revived 24 or a more standard full-season order. Insiders say the hope is for the new Xena to be an ongoing (read renewable) series.

  1. As long as Lucy remains Xena I'm good with this. I hate recastings so I'll support this until they announce to hire someone younger than her.

Also both Lucy and Kevin Sorbo still are capable enough to play their parts

    ReplyDelete
  2. I love Xena but please don't touch the original and don't even think about rebooting it.
Do a new story stop recycling! show some inspiration and initiative.

  3. No thank you.

  5. Of course. What's one more reboot.

These execs get thousands sometimes millions to think up reboots. It must be a hard life...

    ReplyDelete
  6. I would be curious to see if this is getting a "Primetime" budget with the ability for better special effects. I would not be opposed to a complete reboot if they are going to do it right. I'd probably at least check it out.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I loved Xena, but just no on a reboot.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm not against ressurecting old shows, in fact I endorse it as long as the original formula and cast is kept.

Buffy without SMG wouldn't work, Angel without David Boreanaz wouldn't work, Hercules without Kevin Sorbo wouldn't work.

    ReplyDelete
  9. And somehow we're still not getting our 13 episode Buffy season 8 set after Angels apocalypse with both Angel and Spike turned human and explaining their aging...

    ReplyDelete
  10. Now I flashed to Nikita 2.0 which was quite solid in it's first season (had some good momets later as well), but still Xena is even more iconic than Nikita and Lucy gave so much soul and heart to the role.

Atm I can't see anyone take the role and make her remoetely interesting.
Overall I would appreaciate a show involving Greek and other mythologies, so lets see what they prep.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Interesting. I tried to get into the original but couldn't, if they did the reboot right I could love it. I hope this doesn't follow the same path as the Charmed reboot and ends up scrapped after the majority of people object to it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I just wrote another commet, Nikita with Maggie did work. But still Xena is a much bigger show/character than Nikita was/is.
Still I couldn't see a new Xena work or would appreciate it. But this can be just a fluke like the Charmed reboot was and which fall apart cause they couldn't come close to the original, even in the preproductio..

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm mostly against this, but if they do it - Lucy Lawless is the only choice. Although her roles now are far more profound. I don't know, I have very mixed feelings about this.
Also, this doesn't sound like they have much faith in Heroes Reborn, does it?

    ReplyDelete
  14. TV has changed quite a bit from when it was made. Is this going to be Game of Throne's style Xena? Sex, Giants and Gods...

    ReplyDelete
  15. Heard Lucy wanted another a Xena movie, as a huge fan of the original i am hoping its not recast. Who knows maybe Xena , the next generation.. right cast and lucy as a mentor brought back from the dead with gabby we finally get some closer

    ReplyDelete
  16. I would rather say they have enough fate to go along and think other resurrections could work. Cause the Heroes Reborn buzz positive so far.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I've never seen the original series, but I've always wanted to. If they do this I'll watch it for sure and I think I'll put the original series higher on my to-watch list.

    ReplyDelete
  18. No thanks, not unless Lucy and Renee return (and even then, not sure if want).

    ReplyDelete
  19. Kevin's said some gross things about the show/Lucy in the past so I'd want him nowhere near this thing, tbh.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Amen to that. The actors in some shows have brought too much of their enormous talent into the role for them to be replaced with anyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Nothing against this particular project and it might end up being good, but this whole reboot fever is out of control

    ReplyDelete
  22. Agreed! Its gotten ridiculous!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I've always liked shows like Xena or in the Fantasy Adventure genre and I think the genre has all but disappeared recently.

I'm all for a remake/ reboot, but honestly I would prefer it happen without Lucy Lawless in the titular role. She's a good actress, but her version of Xena has passed. Some of the more memorable recurring actors have moved on to other aspects of the industry, some are too big to appear in shows like this, I know at least one actor is dead, and others have seemingly retired from acting... For me personally it would not feel right to just plug Lucy's Xena into a new show as the lead role.

That said, so much of what made Xena and Hercules as fun as they were was the brilliant casting and characters. They captured lightning in a bottle once.... can we expect them to do it again?

I guess I'm torn, but would prefer an entirely new cast to remnants of the old cast.

    ReplyDelete
  24. If I had to guess, I would say this is because of the rise of all the streaming services and the increased importance of international sales. It probably pays off for production companies to develop a reboot or sequel of a known property that is way more likely to be added to pre-existing packages sold (in case of sequels) or to be sold at decent prices if it's a known brand (in case of both sequels and reboots). I don't think it is a coincidence that both things are happening at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree. I'm cool with her playing a part but I'd much rather see a more clean reboot. What I mean is a new cast. I loved the original but let's fully restart this show and allow it to grow in its own direction.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Agreed, it's too much now.
Fist 24, the Hereos, then The X Files, now Prison Break and now Xena? How long until we get to Lost and Buffy? And then, how long until V gets rebooted again?

I have nothing against reboots, they could be fun, but I think efforts should be made to create new and fresh hits rather than try to spark those that once were. After all, Empire is a mega hit and it is an original creation, networks should aim for that. Instead, I get the feeling the reboot fever is a bit of a desperation tactic

    ReplyDelete
  27. The thibg I maybe would like to see is Xena getting reincarnated, with her old memories, in like the middle age and trying to prevent the Greek Gods from rising again. Something like that I would like.
We could see some flashbacks with Lucy and a new actress chanelling the new "modern vibe".

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah and don't forget CBS had an idea to reboot Charmed last year and I saw last month Sweet Valley High might might be rebooted

    ReplyDelete
  29. Reboots can be successful on their own right. H50 is entering its 6th season and has made CBS a lot of money both through syndication and even first run when it was top 10pm show on television for its first two seasons. And I studied it a while back; the track record of a reboot isn't any worse than the track record of a new thing. I just think they are too much right now. But I think the explanation isn't that hard actually, it's the rise of int. sales and streaming - see my answer below to Laura.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Unrelated note: I still hope CHUCK returns for a limited season or gets a movie... Zach Levi talked recently about it and it seems to be more possible every year :) Limited series would be easier for the cast but Zach would like to do a movie instead!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I forgot about those! It is bigger than I thought!

    ReplyDelete
  32. As much as I loved Xena. NO! I do not. And Lucy Lawless is too old to play her now. I'm not even surprised by this freaking news. You brought back X-Files. Ya know what? Let's just cut to the chase and bring ALL the 90s series back. Since they seem to have nothing better to do. Let's bring back Hercules, Sliders, Silk Stockings, NY Undercover, Roswell, Animorphs, All That, Party of Five, Martin, The Nanny, Are You Afraid of The Dark, Cybill, MAD TV.....I mean let's just go all out here. Why annouce it anymore?? Just do it!!! Ugh!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I completely forgot H50 was a reboot. It certainly has been quite succesful, CBS has made tons of money with it, the syndication sells were really high on that one, I remember.

I understand the financial upside to making reboots, but at some point oversaturation may hurt. Besides, studios are making many remakes of shows that went on a low note during their final seasons.

Take 24 for instance, it ended with a 2.8 and came back to a 2.6, going as low as 1.4, and ending with a 1.7. Granted, it aired during summer and those ratings are pretty good today, but 24 didn't nearly catch the breeze it got during most of its run.

Which is why I'm not confident Heroes Reborn will do particularly well upon return, nor Prison Break either. NBC and FOX will make money, for sure, the reasons you point out make for an excellent argument on why to keep making reboots, but it seems like networks are starting to rely too much on them. How many reboots is NBC planning? Is this the 3d? At what point will it take half of their schedule? And what kind of shows will end up getting rebooted? Can they actually attract a good chunk of audience?

I think reboots will definetely bring money to networks, at least during the first seasons, and that is enough argument to make them over new unknown tested shows, but just how much can you rely on them? At some point there may be way too many and not all of them are guaranteed to work.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I mean, so many original ideas out there and they still want the old back. *sighs*. I think it's more about something old that will suceed tha something new that will fail.
Anyways i hope it's witha new cast and Lucy will join as regular.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Chuck went out to a 1.3, and it hit a couple of sub 1s ratings before it went, so I don't know... maybe if NBC want an online companion for Aquarius, then maybe, but its rating history doesn't indicate it will return.

Then again, Prison Break hit sub 1s on its final season and FOX is considering to work a reboot, so it may as well get made, but I don't think NBC will go for that just yet.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Exactly. Said the same thing up top, just a little more aggressive. : )

    ReplyDelete
  37. If they are so willing to do such things, maybe in 20 years time we can expect Hannibal revival

    ReplyDelete
  38. If they touch Buffy and Lost, I'm gonna riot!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I was LIVID when they talked about rebooting Charmed. Smmfh.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Buffy ended on such a good note I wouldn't like it to get rebooted. Or worse... get the sequel treatment is Heroes is getting.
Can you imagine the comic books story arc coming to be on TV format? It would be the stuff of nightmare!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I agree, I want more original programming.

    ReplyDelete
  42. If that happened there'd be an Apocalypse. A real one!

    ReplyDelete
  43. You get a reboot, you get a reboot, everyone gets a reboot. Well, almost everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm down but only if the show is an actual reboot. An homage here and there to the original is fine but other than that do NOT make this a continuation. I like how the original ended well enough but it and Hercules are not exactly great TV (fun for sure but pretty bad if you're being objective) and I'd like them to attempt to make a new series better.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Charmed was chock full of potential and never once gully realized that potential. A Charmed reboot with good writing and acting would make me SOOOOO happy.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm sure one day it will happen.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Xena spirit... Xena success... ==> Lucy Lawless as Xena, Renee as Gabrielle & the orig. cast. Sam, Rob, Steven Sears, and the writers. THAT'S HOW WE WANT XENA REBOOTED!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Well Yeah, but if a limited series is what they would do, Then I would like it to be on Netflix, 10 50-60minute episodes for example!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Feel the same way.
I was disappointed with the original after a couple seasons... It remained fun, but never achieved its potential.

A remake would have my interest, but honestly I think I would be just as happy or even more happy with a similarly themed new series that had a similar but different premise. Keep the witches and siblings and then do something original... and better,

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yes, this. The show had a somewhat unique spin and made its own version of Greek mythology, and the storylines were good but it could all be done better esp with the right budget, cast and writers. Would love for LL to have a recurring role.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I used to love watching Xena; she was one of the first strong female character I remember admiring. I'm unsure on whether they can do a reboot justice, though.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well, some 90s series were actually better than several current series so it's not the worse idea ever...

    ReplyDelete
  53. The X-Files coming back is in no way a bad thing and only a very very good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I wouldn't like that at all. Charmed was great the way it was. (I really didn't care for the whole Christie/Billy SL though) and the series finale was perfect, emotional, ending on a happy note, (after all they went through they deserved it) and still giving a little homage to Shannen Doherty in the end. No. I wouldn't love it at all. I definitely wouldn't support the reboot.

    ReplyDelete
  55. If they bring back the originals actresses, i might check it out. They can even make them an official couple in this new version. But i really can't see anyone else playing Xena. It's too soon, Hollywood!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Me too !!!

On the Charmed note I'd love to see a continuation focusing on Phoebe and Coop's daughters ( Charmed was a show about three sisters ) Prudence 'Prue' Astrid, Patricia 'Patty' Laura , and Penelope 'Penny' Grace Halliwell as the next generation of Charmed Ones when they are 17, 15, and 12 years old.

( 22 yr old Wyatt Matthew, 21 yr old Christopher 'Chris' Perry, & 17 yr old Melinda 'Mel' Charlotte Halliwell, and 17 yr old twin Cassandra (Cassie) Helena & Johanna (Hanna) Christina, & 15 yr old Henry Samuel Mitchell would also star )

    ReplyDelete
  57. I agree on what you said about Lost so much. Especially your last sentence.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I loved Xena very much. The show was one reason why I studied history but I really don't trust ths whole reboot hype.

    ReplyDelete
  59. If they do it, they should make it clear that she is a lesbian.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Not JUST X-Files. Pablo said it better down below. And I too was a Fan of X-Files, and as "happy" as I am for it returning, the question of "why" will always be in my head. Sorry can't be "overly thrilled" like the rest of you. But the point of my post wasn't about X-Files specifically, it was an example.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I want a Lost continuation series with a grown Walt running the island now with 'new' castaways Aaron Littleton, Ji Yeon Kwon, Charlie Hume, Sawyer & Kate's son and daughter, Richard and Claire's son, and Megan Pace among others dealing with island life and it's 'ghosts' ..... Jack, Shannon, Boone, Michael, Sayid, Juliet, Ana Lucia, Mr, Eko, Libby, Roger, Goodwin, Ethan, Danielle, Rose, Bernard, Charles, Ms. Hawking, and Jacob as well as the resurrected Man in Black played by Terry O'Quinn.

    ReplyDelete
  62. What's with the reboot era? No new ideas? Not fond of taking risks with new stuff?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Juliana Dias BorgesJuly 20, 2015 at 10:50 PM

Bring Xena and Gabrielle back with Lucy and Renee!

    ReplyDelete
  64. "I think I would be just as happy or even more happy with a similar themed new series that had a similar but different premise. Keep the witched and siblings and then do something original and better."

    THIS^^

  65. Xena needs to come back but it would have to be Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor. They are a team and would need to stay a team!

  66. Noelia GonzálezJuly 20, 2015 at 11:05 PM

YES PLEASE! Return of XENA. BUT ONLY WITH LUCY LAWLESS AND RENÉE O'CONNOR. From Spain.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Lucy Lawless is only 47 and Renee O'Connor is 44 .... they so could still rock Xena & Gabrielle !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Nicolás Caballero MühlbachJuly 20, 2015 at 11:07 PM

Without Lucy and Renee ... NO.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Actually Hercules without Sorbo has been done many time and done better (imo).

    ReplyDelete
  70. If they do reboot the series I would hope they (tptb) stick to the original concept and not start preaching about the monotheistic religion again. That bullshit completely ruined the first series. I hope they (tptb) also step carefully about the memory of Kevin Smith.

    ReplyDelete
  71. we want that to Lucy and Renee and want a sequel to AFIN where Xena returns to Gabrielle.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I like the idea but it would make no sense with the old cast, Lucy is not in a fighting age anymore and it would make no sense for producers, they'd probably go with a young new girl who can last as long as they can stretch the show out.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Lucy just confirmed on twitter that this is just a very exciting rumor and, as of right now, nothing more. Hopefully NBC will see the excitement this rumor caused and get to work on actually making a reboot.

    Lucy and Renée, please.
But would be better to continue the story. Start with a post Friend In Need...

    ReplyDelete
  75. Curious, do you know what was said?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Talking about a series, never seen a Hercules series working without Sorbo. The Ryan Gosling series was boring at best.

And of the movies that have been released in the past...the one with Dwayne Johnson is alright but that attrocious trash-fest called "The Legend of Hercules" was just...ugh

    ReplyDelete
  77. He did? Dishe me da gossip, I want to know what he said

    ReplyDelete
  78. It only did because the original movie was french and the show that came before it was a.) old and b.) not too successfull.
There's this neat saying "a reboot only works if the material you're rebooting wasn't that good to begin with" and the thing here is....all these classic shows they're trying to reboot just don't work without their original actors.
As long as David Hasselhoff is alive and drunkenly eating hamburgers I won't accept ANYONE driving a talking car on TV (except Jensen Ackles on Supernatural, that episode was hilarious).

Well, the Charmed reboot actually went pretty far for a reboot, it only failed to go through because there was an open call against it instead of a call for it. Even the original actresses were against it, so I guess they scrapped it knowing that they couldn't reel in the original fanbase.

I get that replacing long deceased actors is a thing these days and is needed at certain points but mostly recastings don't work. Not on TV and not in movies. Maguire-Garfield on Spider-Man was a joke, Englund-Haley was just impossible since Englund IS Freddy aaand oh so many others

    I just hate recastings...

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yeah, the comics were just a whole other level of campy. I sometimes read it for amusement, but the TV land kept the show grounded. I think Wheadon and company just became too excited with the idea for the comics book and it became really weird. Like REALLY WEIRD! I still read the main arc, it's somewhat amusing, but defenitely not the same thing as the show.

That's for the main arc, the one off that are not cannon Buffy stories are actually much better than the actual cannon comics, which is a bit sad.

So, if they ever make a Buffy reboot, let it be that, a reboot, cuz I honestly can't imagine that level of campy on TV, it's just too much, even for comic book standards at times.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Yeah, besides from some flaws, Lost was near perfect for me from start to finish. That's another show I wish I followed since it started, but I began watching once it was over xD.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Never watched it when it was on the first time.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Ha, I thought a lot about it too. It'd be like "LOST: The Next Generation". It could work if the storylines were propperly developed.

    ReplyDelete
  83. aslong as i get lucy as xena and renee as gabby then im game i hated that fuckin endin

  86. I actually didn't watch Lost when it started i watched it right before it was abut to end. I remember the constant commercials that came on about the Series Finale and they were allllll the same. "Say an emotional goodbye to Lost." Yada yada, and I got so annoyed, I was like, what is the big deal with this show?? (I mean i knew it was a big thing but i never paid it any mind) So because of the exsessive commercials I started watching it. Watched the Pilot and i was HOOKED. Caught up with the entire series, before the series finale. You know what my time frame was??? Two weeks. Watched the entire series in two weeks. And i watched the Finale Live. Cried my butt off.

  87. lmaoooo I warned you man. But you had to figure it out for yourself. So i'm glad you did.

  88. lol I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry. I knew he was a republican but I was hoping for him to go down the SMG and Arnie route of republicans and not the...Trump kind.

His Ferguson comments are just....dumb and incredibly uninformed. He's a class A example for why religion completely effs up minds.

On his Lucy comments, gee...well...he does sound honest about his feelings I guess? Didn't even know about the other actress being considered (and have no reason not to believe him, he strikes me as the classic type of idiot that outright says what he thinks and what he thinks is beyond idiotic)

I'm kinda hoping for a reunion now to get all the bts gossip :P

    ReplyDelete
  89. "Why?"

Well multiple reasons, the most obvious one: the brand never died.
Unlike other shows the X-Files never stopped existing in terms of presence. Books, comics, games were still coming out to this day and the last movie hit theatres only 6 years prior to the conception.

As far as pop culture phenomena go the X-Files managed to ramain steady in terms of relevancy. David was available and Gillian always was (remember: Duchovny was always the make-it-or-break-it actor that had to be woo-ed in, Gillian seems to do every job that pays)

reason 2: FOX is dying...or at least was when the revival was ordered, name me one hit on FOX not named Empire. Gotham performed under expectations, Sleepy Hollow is a total failure as far as things look now and the network virtually has no franchise on their hands. ABC has the Marvel-universe; CBS has CSI and NCIS; theCW has the DCUniverse and VampireDiariesFranchise and while franchise-less we could consider NBC the "old people" magnet.
Fox has no hit show that goes beyond 1 season (yet).
When they saw Sleepy Hollow tanking and learned the hard way that not all that is DC is automatically gold they had to walk back to their roots: as in old hit shows like 24 and X-Files.

I'm not opposed to the revival, why? Simply because the same creative team is working on it, the story was never brought to a close (and never will be) and the show can (and probably will) dingle-dangle on this planet until Gillian and David are 90.

Think of the revival like the new Muppets show: same old fun

    ReplyDelete
  90. Actually, SMG has said herself she's not a Republican https://twitter.com/SarahMGellar/status/600746399836188673

I need Lucy and Renee to appear in something together please!

    ReplyDelete
  91. You're welcome!

    ReplyDelete
  92. 24,HR,XF is continuation,not reboot

    ReplyDelete
  93. actually not much reboots, rather continuations

    ReplyDelete
  94. Huh, I thought she was one at least her ObamaCare comments sound as uninformed as a republicans view would be. A joke? Not by a mile, a mis-start? Absolutely but the concept itself is pretty great compared to medicaid.

But whatever, I don't enjoy actors because of their political agenda or personality. I enjoy them because they can convey the characters they portray. No matter how liberal I am, I love Schwarzenegger despite his views. No matter how often I'll call any sort of religion r******d, I'll still enjoy Tom Cruise flicks for what they are.

The only time an actors personality actually turned me off on the whole guy was Will Smith, I can't watch any movie with him anymore without being reminded of the annoying seed of his he's trying to force feed us

    ReplyDelete
  95. Us Xenites have been fighting for a Xena Movie or mini series starring Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor for years and years now. Xena needs to return BUT Lucy Lawless MUST be Xena n Renee O'Connor must b Gabrielle. I Would love to see it continue from the final episode and see how after so many years Gabrielle finally finds away to bring Xena back from the dead. I loved the final episode but would totally love to see a continuation to the story. Its time NBC!

  96. I didn't watch it in it's entirety the first time around, so I would watch this one with a new cast, but I do hope very much that Lucy Lawless gets some kind of cool role and that other members of the original cast could appear!

  97. Yeah, I was warned. But you know? I have come to enjoy them in their campy way, thought it took some time to get used to. But it's not like the show.

I think I can enjoy the comics in a "funny way", but that's not even close to the level of engage I had with the show (I've been on chapter 7 of the comics for a while now). So, it is far inferior in that way, but I have found it to be entertaining enough. The main arc so far is too over the top (Warren is alive? Like, seriously?! And who came up with the idea to make Dawn a giant?!), but still, there is something funny about them, and the spin off comics like "Oz" or "Willow and Tara" have been pretty interesting reads. So even though they haven't been great like the show, I think I can still enjoy them (but they really need to cut back some dialogue! Too much nonensense being said sometimes xD)

  98. Wow, that's a lot of episodes on such a short notice! Doable, but really impressive, those are like 120 episodes! But you got to watch the finale live. Worth it.

There is nothing like watching the series finale of a great show live. I had the fortune I had to watch the end of my all time favorite Fringe during my trip to LA. I managed to watch it live, and it was one of the most amazing experiences ever. Obviously, I cried like a baby xD.

  99. Uh huh. Nice story. And yes why. As in why can't they just leave things alone. Sorry but i think some things like successful tv shows, should just be left alone. Regardless of "continuing success" There's a lot of shows that have/had continuos success through everything you said, comics, games, books, you don't see all of that coming back. (And i hope it doesn't).

I personally wouldn't be thrilled about a new "muppets show" Those aren't fun. When they brought back The Rugrats, was that fun? NO. Rugrats: All Grown Up Tanked so badly. And got cancelled after what? One season? Not everything from the past needs to be dug up from the grave. And they've been doing this a lot lately, so yeah it's bugging me, and as you can clearly see, i'm not the only one that sees this "rebooting" phase as a problem.

Like i said before, my post has nothing to do with the show specifically, i was using it as an example. And despite everything you just said, with all your examples, i still feel the same way. "Series finale" is supposed to mean something, and for me personally, i like when my memory is perfectly intact with the original ending, especially if it ended on a great note. I don't need to see every show i ever watched coming back 10, 15, 20, 30 years later just b/c the writers "lost their touch" or w/e the case may be. It feels like they strip away your childhood when they do that. Not all the time but sometimes. And then just b/c it returns doesn't mean it's going to be any better than how it originally ended, it could be worse, that's another issue. It can all be very risky. Sometimes, i feel it's best to remember things as they were. That's just the way i feel about it. You don't have to agree.

  101. Thank you! I've been waiting to read that... honestly, I thought that would have been one of the first things mentioned.

Hell, that should have been part of the poll.

  102. I was a machine. Just episode after episode. I was so mad at myself that i never watched it while the seasons aired. But i was happy to catch up before it was over. Hahahaha did you cry on the plane? That had to be embarrassing. lol

  103. I'm not a fan/supporter of reboots in general, continuation stories I do like and find them more respectful towards the fans if you can't bring back the old cast.
All the things U said I agree with and if they do something with the Xena mythology they should go for a reincarnation where someone is trying to stop the Greek Gods from coming back or something. That would by my wish.

  104. Bring back Lucy and Renee for a Xena Movie now!!!!

  105. I hoped more for S7 than a whole series reboot. Even Lucy Lawless hopes for it. Let's wait & see

  106. It's important that NBC considers that fans are supporting a Xena reboot only if Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor reprise their roles and fix the mess that the last episode left.

Both Xena and Gabrielle are attached to Lucy and Renee so it would be a terrible choice to pick other actresses.

Renee O'Connor and lucy lawless must be involved or forget about it.

  108. Done! posted a comment on all of them!

Lucy and Renee must resume their roles! They are the real deal and the original Xena & Gabrielle. No one can compete with that. It has to be with them or no revival at all! Love Lucy & Renee as Xena and Gabrielle. And would love to see some of the other regulars return as well. :)

  110. time machines !! I was they would not make a reboot of the entire series. would restart from where there was a crucial point for the story. maybe fourth or fifth season. people expect to see something of the old series, then put a new character who serveria as an apprentice double. it would belong to the current times, then revive with them important moments of the series and possibly the change for the better! for example: the confrontation of the gods and the duel with the devil Yodoshi. and of course Lucy and Renne main. there is no Xena Lucy Gabby or without Renne.

  111. Please do a Xena movie with Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor in their original roles!

And ROC (Renee O'Connor) has to come back too ;)

  113. The need to bring Xena back to life!- with Lucy Lawless playing Xena and Renee O'Connor as Gabrielle. They could bring Adrienne Wilkinson back as Xena's daughter Eve and actually have a "Xena 2.0" by giving Gabrielle a daughter that she would have named Xena (Gabrielle needs to have living offspring as seen in "The Xena Scrolls" & would name her daughter Xena as seen in "Return of Callisto" ) so Gabrielle & her daughter could go on a mission (with Eve) to bring Xena back from the dead & then the couple could mentor the namesake Warrior Princess. Whatever they do, they need Lawless & ROC to reprise their original roles! NBC can't ruin it like they did with Bionic Woman.
