Cisco from The Flash is number one! He's just so funny, with all the nicknames, "fanboying" over the Black Canary and so many other moments. He's awesome. I also voted for Jarvis from Agent Carter and Fitz from Agents of SHIELD.
This was so incredibly hard! Most of them are so fairly awesome and funny it's really hard to choose! I knew I was going to go Walter Bishop and Nolan Ross, but the 3rd one... that was a pickle! In the end I went Cordelia Chase because she cracked me up on Angel (during the first 3 seasons, at the very least) and because she was amazingly developed.
I would give props to Tyrion, Cisco, Felix, Xander, Topher, Birkhoff and Fitz, with the special mention of Jarvis from Agent Carter
Danny's really dry though, some of his rants get kind of bitter. He should be happy Steve is such a tolerant guy for all the quips he throws his way, like calling him an animal every few episodes. I love them both though, their bickering is what keeps we watching the show.
Wow, that was really hard! I went with Jarvis, Kenzi and Other for Stiles of Teen Wolf but Mozzie, Walter, Job, Cisco, Walter, Morgan, "Wash" and Monroe are also among my favorites.
Actually i never minded that part which i think bothers many fans.Danny's way of showing love and concern is a little different than others and Steve perfectly understands that. That guy can call Steve an animal from time to time, sure but he will also jump in front of the line of fire if that meant saving Steve. So,i love every bit of Danny with his flaws. He's a bit of a drama queen & we all love him for that.
Mozzie: The show wouldn't have been the same without his conspiracy theories. Tyrion:. He's one of the best characters of got. Walter: Great character too.
Cisco (The Flash), Birkhoff (Nikita), Xander (Buffy) Other: Spike (Buffy, Angel), Stiles (Teen Wolf) and probably many more which i can't recall right now.
Ok the voting was hard b/c i had 6 people up there that i really liked. My first vote was Cisco w/o hesitation!!! My second choice was Cordelia and for my third i chose Other- for Willow Rosenberg. As much as i liked Xander, I liked Willow a little bit more.
Mozzie all the way! The only way he doesn't win is because it often takes some intelligence, knowledge of history, current events, and pop culture to get the humor.
Before I saw the choices, I thought of Mozzie so he definitely gets my vote. Stiles from Teen Wolf is my "other" vote. The last vote was hard because Cisco, Walter, Jarvis, Monroe. Birkhoff, Xander, Cordelia, and a dozen others are all good choices.
Mozzie is my first choice too but the reason he won't win is because many people never watched White Collar. Insinuating that people who don't choose him somehow lack those things is just obnoxious and won't get anyone to try this awesome show.
Yeah I can understand choosing Happy, Toby or Cabe. I suggested Sylvester because he's so funny when he panics in a situation. If I change, I would choose Cabe instead.
Good choice, but in the end the list was getting to big, so I decided to try to leave the shows mostly focussed on comedy out (I guess I should have left Chuck out too). But hey, there is always that 'Other' option.
But Bud isn't a regular on the show, if he was I would have defenitly put him on this list. But that's why I always put the Other voting option in the list.
I actually watch the show so he should have been in there, but I think I accidentally cut him out when I was trimming the poll (I found the list was getting too big and with too many characters who weren't funny enough for my taste).
Thank you, just thought of a new poll: Who's your favourite tv show composer? But I just realised I only know of 1 (Bear McCreary), so that wouldn't be much of a poll. (if anyone outthere knows a lot of them, feel free to make a poll).
Oh man there's so many good options. I picked Job, Edwin Jarvis, and Felix. But if I had the option of picking more I would choose these three, Walter Bishop,Felix,Kenzi, Morgan Goimes, Gauis, Mozzie, and Leo Fitz.
There are so many great charactes mentioned here. I think you did a fabulous job with getting a good variety and I really love this topic. Kudos to you!
I appreciate everyone who puts "other" on their lists. No one can see every show and it gives people (the non-complainers) a chance to open the discussion up. There has been some great discussion in these polls and often someone will mentioned someone I forget.
I watched most of the second season and then, in an attempt to really get into the show, went back and watched from the beginning. I found it pretty boring, it was a good show but not for me personally. A big part of it *was* admittedly that Fringe was so procedural initially and I dislike procedurals. It took me several tries to get into Person of Interest - I kept almost dropping it because it took such a long time for full-on serialization to kick in. I take it the same happened with Fringe but I lacked the patience to stick with it.
I didn't consciously realize just how many awsome--vital--sidekick characters exist. So often they are audience entrants or the heart of the team/hero. It made me think about character structure, too. Sidekicks rule.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Shawn and Gus from Psych.
ReplyDeleteAre Fitz and Jemma even comic reliefs anymore? They joined the ranks of seriousness, Hunter's more the funny side-kick/partner/friend.
ReplyDeleteCisco from the Flash.
ReplyDeleteI find Felicity the funniest (Arrow)
ReplyDeleteRichard Castle from Castle
ReplyDeleteLionel Fusco from Person of Interest
Mozzie(White Collar) & Danny(Hawaii Five-O).
ReplyDeleteVoted for Morgan only in the poll but the funnies of all is Deeks, NCIS:LA.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%.Comedy is the last thing that comes to my mind when i see them now-a-days.
ReplyDeleteJob, Jarvis and Cisco.
ReplyDeleteSEYMOUR BIRHOFF (Nikita)
ReplyDeleteStiles (Teen Wolf) or Kenzi (Lost Girl) :)
ReplyDeleteMorgan Grimes, Felix Dawkins and (it was difficult to pick between Wash and Xander) I had to pick Xander
ReplyDeleteOther! Stilles!
ReplyDeleteWalter Bishop, Nolan Ross and Vince Masuka
ReplyDeleteNolan and Mozzie
ReplyDeleteFrom the list? Felix.
ReplyDeleteShouldn't it be Bronn on here instead of Tyrion? Those 2 together were awesome!
ReplyDeletedamn u guys now u have me on #psych withdrawl.
ReplyDeleteCisco Ramon, Leo Fitz and Seymour Birkhoff
ReplyDeleteHands down Nolan Ross. No competition.
ReplyDeleteLove Jarvis! And Cisco! And as an 'other' this is going back a bit now but Donna Noble in Doctor Who :)
ReplyDeleteSergeant Wu from Grimm.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Stiles?
ReplyDeleteMike Ross - Suits
ReplyDeleteCisco from The Flash is number one! He's just so funny, with all the nicknames, "fanboying" over the Black Canary and so many other moments. He's awesome.
ReplyDeleteI also voted for Jarvis from Agent Carter and Fitz from Agents of SHIELD.
Fitz (because I love him), Cisco (same) and Tyrion (he's so twisted and I love that lol).
ReplyDeleteLeo Fitz is the definition of awesomeness!!
ReplyDeleteCisco is a close second for me tied with jarvis
Monroe (Grimm)??? :D he was .. maybe in season 1. but when he found his girl.. hm.
ReplyDeleteThis was so incredibly hard! Most of them are so fairly awesome and funny it's really hard to choose!
ReplyDeleteI knew I was going to go Walter Bishop and Nolan Ross, but the 3rd one... that was a pickle!
The last comedy bit Fitz got was the "biatch" line from the finale, but lately he has been very serious
ReplyDeleteFelix Dawkins, Walter Bishop, and Kenzi.
ReplyDeleteHard to choose, I picked Walter Bishop because of the many times I've to rewind my DVDs because I was laughing so loud at some comment of Walter that I missed the next 10 minutes of the episode...
ReplyDeleteJason Stackhouse too because it wasn't just his lines, it was the completely befuddled air the actor had sometimes which was so hilarious and adorable at the same time, like a lost puppy. Actually there's an expression in French which is "comme une poule qui a trouvé une clef à molette", it means "like a chicken that has just found a monkey wrench", basically it refers to the expression on someone's face when he's just completely overthrown by the situation.
For my third choice I picked Tyrion even though I don't really consider him a sidekick because he's not just funny, he's smart too, witty and I like that.
Danny's really dry though, some of his rants get kind of bitter. He should be happy Steve is such a tolerant guy for all the quips he throws his way, like calling him an animal every few episodes. I love them both though, their bickering is what keeps we watching the show.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Stiles should have been on the list.
ReplyDeleteNolan Ross 100%!!!
ReplyDeleteSpike?
Why isn't Stiles on this poll?
ReplyDeleteI totally agree
ReplyDeleteIndeed. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWow, that was really hard! I went with Jarvis, Kenzi and Other for Stiles of Teen Wolf but Mozzie, Walter, Job, Cisco, Walter, Morgan, "Wash" and Monroe are also among my favorites.
ReplyDeleteStiles! Teen Wolf!
ReplyDeleteMichael Ealy's character in Almost Human.
ReplyDeleteDorian
ReplyDeleteThat's him! lol
ReplyDeleteThat was wicked hard. I did NOT want to only choose 3. Good poll.
ReplyDeleteActually i never minded that part which i think bothers many fans.Danny's way of showing love and concern is a little different than others and Steve perfectly understands that. That guy can call Steve an animal from time to time, sure but he will also jump in front of the line of fire if that meant saving Steve. So,i love every bit of Danny with his flaws. He's a bit of a drama queen & we all love him for that.
ReplyDeleteFelix, Tyrion and Wash get my votes. Walter Bishop, Gaius Balter and Lionel Fusco from POI are up there as well though.
ReplyDeleteKenzi from Lost Girl
ReplyDeleteStiles from Teen Wolf
Definitely Nolan on Revenge
ReplyDeleteMozzie: The show wouldn't have been the same without his conspiracy theories.
ReplyDeleteTyrion:. He's one of the best characters of got.
Walter: Great character too.
Cisco (The Flash), Birkhoff (Nikita), Xander (Buffy)
ReplyDeleteOther: Spike (Buffy, Angel), Stiles (Teen Wolf) and probably many more which i can't recall right now.
Ok the voting was hard b/c i had 6 people up there that i really liked. My first vote was Cisco w/o hesitation!!! My second choice was Cordelia and for my third i chose Other- for Willow Rosenberg. As much as i liked Xander, I liked Willow a little bit more.
ReplyDeleteScott and Stiles. They balance each other out really well and have been through so much terror and destruction together.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more, he's absolutely a drama queen and I love how the actor took that aspect of his character and ran with it.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree on Gus. He's the perfect sidekick you'd want.
ReplyDeleteMozzie all the way! The only way he doesn't win is because it often takes some intelligence, knowledge of history, current events, and pop culture to get the humor.
ReplyDeleteMozzie, Morgan, and Masuka. Wow, all 'm's.
ReplyDeleteBefore I saw the choices, I thought of Mozzie so he definitely gets my vote. Stiles from Teen Wolf is my "other" vote. The last vote was hard because Cisco, Walter, Jarvis, Monroe. Birkhoff, Xander, Cordelia, and a dozen others are all good choices.
ReplyDeleteMozzie was the first person I thought of.
ReplyDeleteStiles was the second person I thought of after Mozzie. His snark is my second favorite thing on Teen Wolf after the Scott-Stiles bromance.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeleteExcellent choice.
ReplyDeleteThat actually surprises me that you didn't watch Fringe.
ReplyDeleteIn the "other" choice. I choose him too.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Now Bud is definitely the comic relief and often times Wu.
ReplyDeleteMost likely because the person who created the poll doesn't watch Teen Wolf. That's why "other" is a choice.
ReplyDeleteThis was one of the better polls we've had. I like it because it is different from most.
ReplyDeleteMozzie is my first choice too but the reason he won't win is because many people never watched White Collar. Insinuating that people who don't choose him somehow lack those things is just obnoxious and won't get anyone to try this awesome show.
ReplyDeleteYeah I can understand choosing Happy, Toby or Cabe. I suggested Sylvester because he's so funny when he panics in a situation. If I change, I would choose Cabe instead.

ReplyDeleteVoted for Walter, Xander and Morgan. Masuka came close, as did Baltar.
ReplyDeleteThank you, just thought of a new poll: Who's your favourite tv show composer?
ReplyDeleteBut I just realised I only know of 1 (Bear McCreary), so that wouldn't be much of a poll. (if anyone outthere knows a lot of them, feel free to make a poll).
Soon as I saw the poll, I thought Stiles but had to check the list 3 times and he wasn't on it.
ReplyDeleteagree but I think Wu is more like their butler than a side kick.
ReplyDeleteVoted for Cordelia, Wash and Baltar. Didn't vote for Tyrion because he's a main character, not a sidekick, and shouldn't be in this poll.
ReplyDeleteOh man there's so many good options. I picked Job, Edwin Jarvis, and Felix. But if I had the option of picking more I would choose these three, Walter Bishop,Felix,Kenzi, Morgan Goimes, Gauis, Mozzie, and Leo Fitz.
ReplyDeleteJT/Beauty and the Beast.

ReplyDeleteCan't help you with that one but I can't wait to see what poll you submit next.
ReplyDeleteRyan and Esposito from Castle XD
ReplyDeleteMorgan Grimes!
ReplyDeleteI watched most of the second season and then, in an attempt to really get into the show, went back and watched from the beginning. ReplyDeleteFor pure funny it's Mozzie.
ReplyDeleteI didn't consciously realize just how many awsome--vital--sidekick characters exist. So often they are audience entrants or the heart of the team/hero. It made me think about character structure, too. Sidekicks rule.
ReplyDeleteGus from Psych
ReplyDeleteoooh this is so hard its so many! but from this list its missing Stiles definitely a good sidekick and very funny!
ReplyDeleteMorgan Grimes (Chuck), Danny (H50) and Gus (Psych).
ReplyDeleteFitz-Agents of Shield
ReplyDeleteMozzie from white collar all the way
ReplyDeleteWow then you left when it became serialized LOL
ReplyDelete
