Boyd Crowder is my absolute favorite, they made his character and arc as equally as compelling as that of the hero Raylan Givens and really Boyd's entire story was a dark mirror of what Raylan's life could have been. Walton Goggins completely owned the role and developed the character so well, from what seemed like a one dimensional stereotypical Southern racist redneck to this really complex character who despite the bad acts he committed you often rooted for.
Ben Linus. I was talking about Ben and how he has one of my favourite redemption arcs the other day in the Character Cup post. Ben's introduction to the series is so good. You really have no idea if he is bad or not but when he reveals his true nature its terrifying. Yet as the series went on and we found out what happened to young Ben and his relationship Alex he became so deeply complex.
Omar Little is my final choice. Recently having rewatched The Wire I was reminded of my deep love for Omar. I think Omar is one of the best bad guys you root for because really even though he was a baddie he had a code and was the lesser of many evils. I also love how his motivation to do both the right thing like helping the cops out and also seek revenge came from his grief over the horrific murder of his boyfriend. Omar was a delight to watch. Michael K Williams owned that role.
Others: Another Wire character Stringer Bell was really great because he was the brains behind the operation and so desperately wanted to go legit and yet it just couldn't happen.
Al Swearengen, I love Al because at first he really is terrifying and horrible and yet you oddly come to like the character and he becomes more human and has to start working with some of the good guys for the greater good of Deadwood.
Death, Boyd Crowder, and T-Bag, if there had been an other I would have gone with Alastair on Supernatural (Christopher Heyerdahl) in place of T-Bag. Chris played that character so well and he was gone way to soon.
Oh dang, I forgot about Red, love him and the super acting by James. Another character I loved was Spike, he was the reason I kept watching Buffy for the next 4 seasons.
This poll is missing a lot of good ones. Of the top of my head Spike, Wilhelmina Slater, J.R. Ewing, Angel (with or without a soul), and Grant Ward. I like my villains/antagonists/anti-heros complicated and deeply entrenched in the gray.

Considering he was kidnapped when he was a teenager, brainwashed (in the real world way not the MCU way), and then abused for the next fifteen years, I - and Brett Dalton himself consider him to be an anti-hero. He's stumbled a lot - and I'm not happy with the direction of his storyline or many of Grant's actions - but he was trying to help the only way he knew how considering he was literally raised in violence.
They screwed up badly in season two - and everyone got screwed over because of the writing (including Skye and I will never let that go) but Ward's 2A characterization was great compared to 2B.
I don't know how but I'm hoping they can redeem him eventually.
I enjoyed it but that's because I'm perfectly okay with my characters growing up and changing over time. Life is complicated and no one ever stays the same. It's on netflix in the U.S.. Judge for yourself.
This reminds me of a Nelson Mandela quote "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter." People are going to see a situation differently. Something that one person sees as good another sees as bad. Then some are so caught up in their own fanaticism that they don't have a real sense of the situation or of morality. Although some of this fanaticism for a fictional television character is starting to scare me.
Anti-heroes: Grant Ward - AOS Rumple & Regina - OUAT Bellamy Blake, Clarke Griffin & Lexa - The 100 Vanessa Ives - Penny Dreadful
Villains: Kai & Klaus - TVD The Master & Eichorst - The Strain Michael - Stargate Atlantis Evelyn Poole - Penny Dreadful Ingrid, Zelena, Pan & Cruella - OUAT
Just to name a few: Boyd Crowder - Justified: I gotta think this is 99% because of the acting. Goggins really made a powerfully complex character. Raymond "Red" Reddington - The Blacklist: Another complex character brought alive by the actor. Arvin Sloane - Alias: The man had a singular vision and gave literally everything he had for it. Even if he's evil he was a great villain.
Went with Boyd Crowder, because he's just so damn good on Justified and Walton Goggins is such an incredible actor. Also went Other because of Hisenberg - just recently finished Breaking Bad over the weekend and what an incredible show it was. Loved it.
Roots of POI!! 3XK, castle. I love T Bag and Raymond Reddington and Death and Dr Wells from Flash, and Agent Ward from AOS (Though not that much), I don't know if Roots from POI is an anti-hero now, but considering she was gonna kill that lady to indirectly save Harold's life, it's fair to say she is an anti-hero and that makes her on the top of my list really. Then there is Bracken from Castle, the season 6 main villain of Bones was good.
I'd have to add another and say Rick Grimes (the walking dead) and maybe even Clarke Griffin (the 100). Both have fallen victim to the changes that an apocalyptic world can do to a leader. They do anything to save their people and their family, however the anti-heroism comes in due to the fact that they will, and have, kill people in order to do it. Rick has killed, and will probably continue to do so? In order to save his people. And Clarke killed many innocents for the sake of her people too.
I love the writing for both of their characters, because while they have developed well, it's not in the stereotypical 'they have become better people' way. But more so, the stakes have become higher and therefore they have had to become harsher and make difficult decisions for the sake of their people.
Mostly other for me. Some good ones already mentioned, but I would also add Hannibal Lector, Ari from the early seasons of NCIS, and The Penguin from Gotham (best character on the show).
Why is Azezal on this list???? He was straight up villain, pretty nasty one at that, he had no intentions of goodness!! He was just straight out evil! Did the person who picked this list even watch Supernatural???? If anyone from the show is the Anti-Hero, it's Crowley!!!!! He's not good, or bad, but he helps out the main characters quite a bit throughout the series, saves Cas's life, etc... so yeah, methinks he deserves to be on the anti-hero list!
The poll is for fav 'anti-hero' or 'villain', it sounds like Azwzal would qualify for the latter of those two rather than the former if he is plain evil with no redemption to his character?

Favorite anti-hero is Grant on AoS.
