If this was solely for writing, then If-Then-Else would get my vote. But for writing, acting and directing, The Devil's Share wins every single time with me.
I've only just started S3 so I'm basing it on the first 2 seasons and I have to say Relevance is the best I've seen so far. Such a great way to bring in a different aspect to the story, its both tense and fun. Love all the gang helping Shaw out at the end.
Terra Incognita because of the simplicity that I think the show is missing. It felt like Prisoner's Dilemma were really the actors and writing controlled the episode when barely any action is happening. I have to give credit where credit is due when you can keep an audience's attention without flashy gunfights and just good story and character development for John.
The Devil's Share and a large chunk of that has to go to Kevin Chapman. At the beginning of the episode in the flashback he gives a speech to a shrink about how he hunted down and murdered a cop killer and felt fine about it. At the end of the episode he fights Simmons and arrests him declaring that Detective Carter made him a better man and better cop.
As if we didn't expect If-Then-Else to win this poll.. but jokes aside it deserved to i voted if-then-else and thats over devil's share ( which to be correct, Deus Ex Machina was my favorite of season 3 not Devil's Share ). If-Then-Else like the world greatest science project brought to life. and while i notice some comments saying If-Then-Else was only better in the writing... uh. The acting in IFT was awesome especially from amy acker and michael emerson ( of course those two ). Amy during that final sequence and emerson during the chess game flashbacks... cinematography, original music, its the messiah of POI. i feel like you can do another devil's share type of episode and top it if they really wanted to but If-Then-Else i don't think can ever be replicated.
Razgovor is one of the best Mythology/Standalone crossovers episodes in the series for me. Gen is one of the best POI's and the best kid one. shaw stole the show and Root Path was a great serialized episode and Root's coming out party up until that point.
the preparing for Carter's death was more persuading than the preparing for Shaw's, so "The Crossing" is best in writing & acting .. and the directing is the best in If then else .. but "Terra Incognita" was the best in All .. although people said the cold case wasn't perfect but I find it fitting with whole situation ..
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
No brainer: If-Then-Else was simply one of the best television episodes of all time.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion If-then-else wins in terms of writing and directing, but acting was better in The devil's share.
ReplyDeleteI personally have a soft spot for The Devil's Share but most of these episodes are amazing
ReplyDeleteIf-Then-Else
ReplyDeleteIf-Then-Else

Relevance
I have to agree! :)
ReplyDelete"If-Then-Else".
ReplyDeleteAnd as for a second choice, I'd say "The Devil's Share".
Just reading these comments and the titles of "If-Then-Else" and "The Devil's Share" are really all over the place.

ReplyDeleteIf-Then-Else... and, for a show this good, this is saying something.
ReplyDeleteI would vote for The Devil's Share, but meh, too obvious. So putting aside the big two, I voted Other, namely Death Benefit.
ReplyDeleteOther standouts: Cura Te Ipsum, Zero Day, Beta, and Prophets.

ReplyDeleteIf-Then-Else. But I always loved Root Path and Razgovor too.

ReplyDeleteYeah Root Path was such a turning point for her character.
ReplyDeleteFor me, it's The Devil's Share. That is still, in my opinion, the best episode of Person of Interest. A close second is obviously If-Then-Else.
