1. Hardhome: The best episode of the series IMO with the best last 20 minutes of a drama series i have watched this year! It was action-packed, shocking and brilliantly executed! Well done!
2. Mother's Mercy: so much happened in those 55 minutes that it felt like 2 hours. So many characters died and finally everything that the season had been building up to, happened. I am still not over Jon snow's death
3. The Dance of Dragons: While it was very weak at the beginning, the last 15 minutes were amazing with some amazing original score and great directing!
I think Hardhome deserved a best writing nominee since it was not based on the books yet was so masterfully written and executed
1. Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken: for me the rape was just too much. It was so painful to watch because it was so well done and Sophie's acting was on spot! However, they just crossed a line IMO. In addition, the martell revenge storyline seemed a bit cheesy.
I completely agree with everything you said except for The Dance of Dragons part because I didn't find it boring at all, but it's true that the ending made it awesome. I can't wait for season 6!
Because it got bad? There are literally no characters left that I like. No one. And the one's I used to like have become illogical and boring. So why should I follow it? For the great fantasy story? Or for all the interesting characters I'm rooting for?
both mother's mercy and a dance of dragons felt week graphics wise, especially Jon's stabbing and the battle at the beginning looked like shit compared to the usual. But i suppose there was not much they could do after hardhome I guess. Not that Jon's stabbing should of fallen in that category of it being affected by it that much.
But Hardhome with Dany + Tyrion + WW was good, it did not make up for this season much, it was way to transionary for my tastes. My vote definately goes there. im not too fond of this season in particular though, Dorne was the only particularly bad part. So im only really voting for ep 8 for me.This season only seemed to set up next season.
5x10 Mother´s Mercy for me. It was fu*king epic, the best episode of the series for me. I also love 5x08, 5x07 and 5x02 specially, S5 is the best of the series IMO
Too much? It's not like GoT never done this before. The same thing happened to Daenerys in season one. In her case it was even worse because she was forced to marry Khal Drogo. Sansa agreed to marry Ramsey.
Hardhome and Mother's Mercy were the saving graces of the season. Dance of Dragons final bit was cool, but not great graphics/cgi-wise. And even though Hardhome was one of the best episodes of the series, this season was by far and easily the weakest.
The rest were quite mediocre and borderline bad. The first 5 episodes were really boring, I can't even recall anything of significance happening besides characters in pairs just bantering and traveling the countryside.
The episodes picked up near the end but the pacing was really strange. Stannis went from burning his daughter to defeated so quickly. People were dying left and right. Besides Jon, I think there were zero development from any character this season, it got a bit shallow.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteYeah, i just thought the beginning was a bit too slow-paced for my taste. But that was probably the repercussion of "Hardhome"

ReplyDeleteOh okay. I may not understand completely but each to their own ;)

ReplyDeleteThe last 3 episodes of the season: they were INSANELY good!
ReplyDelete5.08,5.09 and 5.10. Hardhome was my favorite episode though.

ReplyDeleteNot surprising, Hardhome was the best.
