I had expected that ABC would have paired one of the Wednesday comedies (probably The Middle) with Fresh Off The Boat on Tuesday. I'm happy though that they didn't, I love ABC's Wednesdays!
I can agree that Quantico moving to Sundays is a bad move, but I think Quantico would have been crushed by Limitless and later Chicago, although my opinion.
Yes I get what you want to say, but I think that slot needs a better performer IMO(Battle Creek should have got the slot as it was compatible with comedies)
I am seeing comments about surprise for TBL not moving. Why would TBL move? Its getting a good lead in from Heroes, Scandal is falling so TBL can use that as an advantage, also where could have NBC put it, only Wednesday 8pm?
The whole FOX schedule was full of terrible moves, but not moving Empire up an hour as a lead in was by far their worst move. They have the biggest hit they had in years and they decided not to take advantage of it. It's like they are trying to come in last place.
NBC has said numerous time that The Blacklist is remaining on Thursdays and that's the right call as Greenblatt wants to create a more male skewing genre lineup on that night to counter the procedural heavy Wednesday lineup.
The Mysteries Of Laura was stated by Deadline to get packaged in with the other WB properties NBC wanted. They couldn't get rid of it, so they are just using it until Shades Of Blue arrives. Since The Mysteries Of Laura and Blindspot are both Greg Berlanti properties, that's going to make negotiations for additional episodes of The Mysteries Of Laura interesting because Berlanti will likely package both together if Blindspot is a success.
1- Empire: FOX is so bad they couldn't come up with anything to pair with it. 2- Castle and Nashville: both shows could have been moved to sundays at 10 if ABC wanted, they must have really desliked their pilots.
3- Laura: how did it even get renewed in the first place? 4- Elementary: only there because CBS renewed CSI Cyber, now CBS' syndication farm has 7 hours.
Supernatural should've moved to thursdays last midseason instead of wednesdays, now that's done, it's the right move keep it after Arrow. Blacklist also moved to the wrong day, could've been part of wednesday while PD would get Voice's lead in last season, now NBC must keep it.
A few of these shows I'm surprised got renewed in the first place. I picked Nashville, not many people expected all five Wednesday shows to stay put. Pleasantly surprised they kept The Middle where it is, I think there could have been a disastourous chain effect where The Middle lost a few tenths, so did The Goldbergs due to lower PUT, couldn't boost up the Wednesday at 8:30 show, which in turn wouldn't keep Modern Family stable and therefore Blackish. I know it sounds extreme, but we saw what happened for the latter two's finales.
I wanted to vote Bones but since clearly FOX doesn't care about Thursday I had to go with Castle. Moving it to Tuesday would help ABC that night and a new show could benefit more on Monday
Empire at 9 is what shocked me the most. Considering how much of a rating behemot it is, it was a shock that FOX isn't it using it as a lead in. A show following Empire should do at least 3s
Nashville and Elementary. I'd say Nashville is the most surprising of the two, since I can understand CBS not wanting to move Elementary to premiere a new drama against HTGAWM. But Nashville is in a relatively low-rated hour where all shows do mid to high 1s. ABC could have easily taken a shot at it and premiere a new drama there, e.g. Quantico.
My guess is 1. CBS didn't want a premiere a new drama in November against an already running HTGAWM, and 2. They're keeping it in a higher-profile slot for one more year so it does better in its first year of syndication before shipping it off to a syndication farm (also possibly Friday if they end one of those shows this year).

It was because of American Fail and Allegiance/The Slap flops. no competition at all.

I know the reasons behind the pick up, I assume keepibg the timeslot was also part of the deal.
