The Whispers - A Hollow Man - Reviews

AL Reviews The WhispersJust when I thought this show couldn’t get anymore exciting it does. This hour flew by and I’m very much looking forward to seeing what happens next.
At the beginning of the episode we see Jessup being the stand-up guy that he is by ignoring orders to kidnap Henry. Instead, he takes him to Claire and Sean. It’s shortly after that moment that Henry tells his parents Drill isn’t dead. I have a feeling that it will take a lot to kill him, otherwise the show would be a mini series. Although both Sean and Claire are really worried about the news they need to protect Henry and go on the run.
Protecting children seems to be a common theme in this episode as we see Lena trying to stop Drill from communicating with Minx. Lena finally confronts Wes about the fact that she has been talking to Drill and she breaks the news that he’s not dead. Well, Wes didn’t believe the news, especially after Minx said that Drill wasn’t actually talking with her. It surprises me that Wes would believe Minx over Lena. After all Minx has lied in the past, and his wife simply has no reason to make that story up.
There was a nice moment between Claire and Sean at the hotel where they reminisce about a vacation that went horribly wrong, resulting in food poisoning. Sean told Claire that they made it through that night so they could make it through this and Claire asked what he meant by that. I was a little surprised that he said that he wanted them to be a family again. It was a nice and tender moment in an otherwise very fast paced episode.
It wasn’t long before Claire received a phone call from Jessup about some research that she had done. It turns out that there was an old case report of a young boy, Thomas, that had an imaginary friend named Drill. Now why was this case any different from the others? Surprisingly enough, it dated back to the 1980s. Claire, Sean, and Henry head to Delaware to locate the family in order to learn more about the case. When they arrive to Thomas’s father’s place it was shocking to discover that Drill had made Thomas kill his younger brother Elliot. Why would Drill want that to happen? That’s just one of the questions everyone is probably asking at that moment.
When Wes is told by Claire that Drill is still alive he has no choice but to take this information to his boss. His boss sends him home, but I couldn’t tell if he was fired or just suspended. Either way things aren’t looking good for Wes right now. Not to mention, Lena is acting very desperately to try and stop Drill from communicating with Minx. I can’t say I blame Lena though, because Drill isn’t playing nice! Lena is asked to do something for Drill and knowing Drill, it isn’t going to be good. Even Minx thinks that Lena is going to do something bad which makes her tell Wes the truth. This causes Wes to turn to Jessup to help him find and stop Lena from making a big mistake.
Sean and Claire were able to locate Thomas and when they convinced him that they were there because Sean was talking to Drill. Once he believes them he starts opening up about Drill and how he had actually killed him. That means that there has been more then one Drill and that he is mortal. What other ways can he be killed? That’s what Claire and Sean were in the middle of learning when Lena comes into the house with a gun. Without hesitation, she shot Thomas before he could share any more information.
I am left with so many questions at the end of this episode. Did Thomas die? If not, there’s a chance that they might still get the answers from him. What’s going to happen to Lena now that she’s shot a man? (I was completely surprised that she would that by the way!) In earlier scenes it was clear that she didn’t want to go through with Drill’s plan but when it came time to shoot Thomas she did it without even blinking! Did that surprise anyone else? Another major question that I was left with at the end of this episode was, is it possible that Thomas thought by killing his brother Elliot, he would kill Drill? There must be a correlation there! What did you guys think of this episode?
