Continuing their strategy of reimagining animated classics into live-action movies, Disney is developing a “Sword in the Stone” movie with “Game of Thrones” writer Bryan Cogman penning the script, Variety has confirmed.
Brigham Taylor will produce the film.
The original toon was based loosely on T.H. White’s novel of the same name, which ultimately became part of the author’s multi-book King Arthur fantasy, “The Once and Future King.”

ReplyDeleteSeeing that list is incredibly disheartening. Disney have shown they are still capable of original ideas like Wreck It Ralph, the fact that they seem to have become obsessed with live action remakes of their classic films just seems unnecessary.
ReplyDeleteMaleficent was a great updating of the Sleeping Beauty story though, plus, the "classic" Disney movies are pretty misogynistic (and I say that as a male) with completely idiotic ideals of love and at least these modern remakes are giving a better perspective on these things.
ReplyDeleteMentioned this in the news reel yesterday but I like this news, and I hope it's gonna be a PG-13 take on the story and not just a PG one. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that some classic films don't send a great message to children and have a wide range of problems. I wish Disney would just focus on new stories rather than rehash the fairytales. But hey I am not their target audience to begin with and clearly they are making a load of money with these remakes.
ReplyDeleteWow. It's a string of Live-action works huh? I was excited about Beauty and the Beast and Mulan, but this i did not see coming.
