As part of the revamp of new ABC drama series Of Kings and Prophets, ABC Studios has brought in a new director, Michael Offer, to shoot the script. I hear he is expected to film an entirely new episode with all-new footage, not partial reshoots of the existing pilot helmed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff.
ABC put Of Kings and Prophets on a series track during the pilot stage with the hire of Chris Brancato as executive producer/showrunner and the setup of a writing staff. I hear the pilot has been rewritten by Brancato and the project’s original writers Adam Cooper & Bill Collage, working with the series’ writing staff.
For Offer, the Of Kings and Prophets assignment comes on the heels of him last month signing an exclusive blind pilot-directing deal with ABC Studios, which also includes a development component. I hear Of Kings and Prophets is separate from that deal, and Offer still is expected to direct a pilot for ABC next season as he did the last two with How To Get Away With Murder and Runner.
