05:30 - Amazon Prime Instant Video UK Extends Sony Deal, Picks Up Future Seasons Of ‘Outlander’
Outlander is staying put on Amazon.
Amazon Prime Instant Video UK has picked up exclusive rights to future seasons of the Starz period drama after extending their licensing deal with international distributor Sony Pictures Television. The show’s second season will premiere on Amazon in the UK in 2016, with episodes being made available to stream within 24 hours of their initial broadcast on Starz.
Amazon claims that Outlander was a huge success with their subscribers, though like their closest competitor Netflix UK they refuse to release specific ratings data. Per the streaming service, Outlander broke records to “become the most streamed show in its opening week” and also set a new record for “the highest number of customers streaming a single season in a day”.

AMC has yet to launch an original comedy series and only has done one half-hour pilot, We Hate Paul Revere, but the network brass had insisted that they would remain opportunistic in the genre when a project gets their attention.
I’ve learned that the cable network has put in development Foodies, a half-hour comedy written by Duncan Birmingham and executive produced by Michael London of Groundswell Prods. Set in Los Angeles’s fast-paced culinary world, Foodies follows a group of obsessive foodies who’ll go to any length to indulge their favorite pastime.
