MOVIES: Genies - Live Action Aladdin Prequel in the works at Disney
Disney is going back to the world of Aladdin, its 1992 animated classic, with a live-action prequel.
The studio is developing Genies, a live-action comedy adventure that is being written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Tripp Vinson is on board to produce via his Vinson Films banner.
Aladdin is a centuries-old Arabic folk tale that got the animated Disney treatment in 1992 in a film featuring Robin Williams as the voice of the blue-skinned Genie.
The new project would focus on the realm of the Genies and reveal how Aladdin's Genie ended up enslaved in the lamp.
Although Genies is only in the early stages of development, the long-term plan is to have the project lead into an Aladdin live-action movie.

23:00 - Sex&Drugs&Roll&Roll - Denis Leary Reveals David Bowie Cameos on the Show
Thanks to NewYearSunrise for the heads up.
What’s the dynamic like between Johnny and Gigi, and how do you see it evolving over time?
But clearly, the biggest lesson he’s gotta learn – which he kinda learns almost by the end of Season One – it starts to become clear that he’s never gonna be famous. If anybody in the family is, or the band, it’s gonna be her, so the idea of her getting more fame and him being in a room with her while somebody else famous is in it is always gonna be funny to me. Like if she’s hanging out with David Bowie in the recording studio, what Johnny’s gonna do to blow that up and piss off David Bowie – even though he’s the biggest Bowie fan in the world – is always gonna be funny to me.
Can we expect any rock star cameos?
Denis Leary: Well, I think I just gave up my biggest one. He’s a great actor – a lot of rock stars are actors, which really fucking pisses me off. Dave Grohl and Greg Dulli are on this show, they totally improvise…

22:55 - Falling Water - USA Network Pilot - Will Yun Lee Joins Cast
USA Network's Falling Water is adding a Hawaii Five-0 and Strike Back actor to its ranks.
Will Yun Lee has boarded the drama pilot as a series regular, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Lee, who recurs on Hawaii as Sang Min and on the final season of Strike Back as Kwon, will portray Taka, an intuitive NYPD detective whose leap of faith insights put him on the trail of an obscure dream-obsessed cult.
The drama, which is being exec produced and directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), tells the story of three unrelated people who slowly realize that they are dreaming separate parts of a single common dream. Each is on a quest for something that can only be found in their subconscious — a missing girlfriend, a son, a way to communicate with a catatonic mother. However, the more they begin to use the dream world as a tool to advance their hidden agendas, they realize that their visions are trying to tell them something and that their very real lives are at stake.

17:45 - Public Morals - Series Press Release
Edward Burns Struggles to Keep the Peace in TNT's Public Morals,
From Amblin Television and Executive Producer Steven Spielberg
Police Drama Set in the Early 1960s New York also Stars Michael Rapaport and Elizabeth Masucci.
This summer, TNT is going to take viewers to the seedy, gritty streets and the bright, seductive lights of 1960s New York with Public Morals, a powerful, buzz-generating police drama from writer, director, executive producer and star Edward Burns (Saving Private Ryan, The Brothers McMullen, TNT's Mob City). Public Morals also stars Michael Rapaport (Justified, Prison Break) and Elizabeth Masucci (The Americans, Inside Amy Schumer). The series is produced in collaboration with Amblin Television and executive producers Steven Spielberg, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank, the team behind TNT's epic sci-fi hit Falling Skies. Also serving as executive producer is Aaron Lubin. Public Morals is set to premiere Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT) on TNT, with availability via TNT's on-demand, digital and mobile platforms the following day.
The city has laws on the books that no one wants enforced, rules to curb all kinds of sin and vice. Gambling and prostitution are as old as the city itself. And the cops in the Public Morals Division do what’s been done for the last hundred years. They manage it for the city. But for Terry Muldoon (Burns), this all might come to an end when a war between two factions of the Irish Mob breaks out in his own Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood, prompting his wife, Christine (Masucci), to demand that they leave the city for good.
Also starring in Public Morals are Ruben Santiago-Hudson (Castle, Low Winter Sun) as Lt. King; Wass Stevens (House of Cards, The Wrestler) as Vince Latucci; Keith Nobbs (In Plain Sight, The Pacific) as Pat Duffy; Austin Stowell (Whiplash) as Sean O’Bannon; Patrick Murney (Person of Interest, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) as Petey "Mac" McKenna; Katrina Bowden (30 Rock, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil) as Fortune; Lyndon Smith (Parenthood, 90210) as Deirdre; Brian Wiles (Person of Interest) as Jimmy Shea; and Cormac Cullinane (Honestly Amelia) as James Muldoon.
In addition, Public Morals will feature guest appearances by Oscar® winner Timothy Hutton (Ordinary People, TNT's Leverage, American Crime), Golden Globe® winner Brian Dennehy (Death of a Salesman, Presumed Innocent, Cocoon), Satellite Award® winner Neal McDonough (Desperate Housewives, Boomtown, TNT's Mob City) and Satellite Award nominee Robert Knepper (Prison Break, TNT's Mob City).
