The Originals - Season 3 - Jason Dohring to Recur

Jason Dohring will first appear in the season three premiere.

The Veronica Mars alum has landed a recurring role on the network's Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Dohring -- who most famously appeared as Logan Echolls on UPN/The CW's Veronica Mars, and reprised the role in Rob Thomas' 2014 film -- will make his Originals debut in the third season premiere. He'll play Detective Will Kinney, who is described as smart and confident with a very clear sense of right and wrong, who is out to bring the forces of evil to justice. And while Kinney doesn't know exactly what's going on in New Orleans, he has a strong suspicion that something strange is going on beneath the surface of the city.

Dohring's Kinney is one of the new faces to expect in The Originals' third season. Showrunner Michael Narducci recently told THR that season three will find the show exploring the Original siblings' sire lines, and several of those key people the Mikaelson siblings turned will pop up in present day.

    Great casting news. I have to admit I was close to giving up on the show (as long as a particular male recurring character from Season 2 doesn't become a regular cast member for Season 3 which I won't name because I might jinx myself) I'll definitely continue watching. Wow *dreamy sigh* with Elijah and this new character Will, things will heat up!!! :D

    Great choice. Loved him in Ringer and his various cameos all over the networks.
    When I read the title I thought he would be The First Turned but the detective role suits him better.

    YES. I rewatched Moonlight recently and really enjoyed seeing him again post VMars being pretty much Logan as a vampire. I am definitely looking forward to this.

    I give him his props when he has his moments. I mean for years i wanted him dead. (since middle towards end of season 3 of TVD lol) But i can deal with him b/c he's funny. If that makes sense. = / Which i guess it does b/c you just said you find him entertaining. lol (And i do ship Klamille, but that's besides the point.) Other than that, if Elijah, Marcel, anyone were to kill him, WITHOUT killing everyone through his line, i would be CHEERING!!! I would not be crying over his death at all. Wait, actually, I would want Marcel dead before Klaus, so yeah. As far as Jackson is concerned...I'll consider him rid of" when he's dead completely. Knowing he's still out there bugs me. And i do want Hayley back with Hope.

    I wouldn't be cheering (because despite how much of an asshole he is, I'd miss him like if Merlyn was ever killed off) but only a Mikaelson can do it. Meaning Elijah, Rebekah or Marcel (he counts). At least Jackson's gone for now. Hayley I don't mind coming back soon, but jesus I really hope they kill her and Jackson's relationship. Though if she does go up against Klaus, she will need some serious help.

    Hahahahaha Marcel does not count. If you mean adopted then sure. But he wouldn't be able to kill Klaus w/o dying himself. It could only be Elijah, or Rebekah. (don't want to count the other ones b/c they're actually dead). As they are true Originals. Hayley and Jackson make me want to vomit. So yeah. She will need some help, i'm not sure where she'll get it from. They need to get rid of these damn wolves and start from scratch. Davina's too busy worrying about Kol. and i'm not sure Freya lies with Hayley.

    IDK what with the first sires trying to kill the Originals next year I think sire line stuff is gonna go. Yeah, there has only been two other couples in the history of my watching TV that bother me more than Jackson and Hayley (mainly because they're toxic, had just as little chemistry and were just bad and annoying). But those two are still terrible.
