We're just three days away from the announcement of the 2015 Emmy Awards nominations. In the form I opened a few weeks ago, I asked everybody to submit their predictions and dream nominees. A few days ago, I published the results of the predictions (see link below) and now it's time for the dream nominees.
The 2015 Emmy Awards: Predictions by SpoilerTV Readers
Before we head to the nominations, here are again some statistics and notes:
-A total of 43 people submitted their predictions and/or dream nominees. Submissions ranged from completely filled in responses to just one name in just one category.
-Regarding the dream nominees, there was again a lot of confusion over the new Emmy rules. There were also various cases in which actors or actresses were submitted in the wrong category. For example, Patrick Dempsey from Grey's Anatomy submitted himself as a Supporting Actor instead of a Lead Actor. Per the rules I set in the form, if a program or performer was submitted in the wrong category, it will not count.
-In addition, several dream nominees were unfortunately not eligible so they cannot be included in the article. Some of the most frequently submitted non-eligible dream nominees are: Sarah Shahi (Person of Interest), Paige Turco (Person of Interest), Eliza Taylor (The 100) and Bob Morley (The 100).
-In some cases, a performer was eligible multiple times in the same category. For example, Aasif Mandvi is eligible as an Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama series for both Madam Secretary and Person of Interest. Unfortunately, if the program wasn't mentioned in a submission, I couldn't count it since I wouldn't know for which series you submitted the performer.
-The most dream nominees were submitted in the category Outstanding Drama Series, which had 160 votes in total. Unsurprisingly, the guest acting categories had the least number of submissions.
-The most submitted dream nominee was Person of Interest as Outstanding Drama Series, which had 16 votes.
-The predictions below are sorted by the number of votes. For example, in the category Lead Actor in a Comedy, Jim Parsons had the highest number of votes, followed by Andy Samberg, then Will Forte, after that Adam Scott etc. If two contenders had the same number of votes, they are sorted by alphabetical order. For example, Modern Family, Veep and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt all had 9 votes so they are sorted by alphabetical order.
-In some cases, two (or more) contenders had the same number of votes while there was only one place left in the category. For example, Gina Rodriguez, Tracee Ellis Ross and Zooey Deschanel both had 4 votes for Lead Actress in a Comedy, but including them all would exceed the maximum number of nominees. In these cases, I used random number generator to decide which would be included in the category. The other nominee(s) are considered a 'Top Dream Nominee'.
Now let's get on to the dream nominees.

I agree! I wish she could've become a main character :(
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that POI made it into several categories. If only the Emmys weren't so stupid.
ReplyDeleteOMG, so much Parks and Rec!! :D
ReplyDeleteIf the nominations (comedy) would be anything like this, I'd be really happy haha. It probably won't happen but whatever.. (I'm only missing The Goldbergs and Wendi McLendon-Covey)
For drama I hope that Bob Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks will get a nomination!
I understand that the Dream nominees are the people who get highest votes. what about Top Dream nominees, what does it mean?
ReplyDeleteGreat to see Parks and Recreation dominating the comedy site! Hopefully some of these dream nominations will become true.
ReplyDeleteIt also makes me happy to see HTGAWM on the drama site. Nominations for Viola and Cicely are absolutely deserved! Unfortunately Jack Falahee will probably not me nominated. He did so great as Connor Walsh!
I also started to watch The 100 after seeing yesterdays article. And I think it will become one of my new obsessions! I have to catch up on it, but it hasn't much episodes, so it won't take me too long. So good to see it as a dream nominee, but I think this won't happen. :/
I'd be so thrilled if these were the actual nominations
ReplyDeleteI also liked that Jack Falahee made the list! He is an incredible actor!
ReplyDeleteOh my you have so much awesomeness to still watch. Episode 5 is when it takes a turn! You will love the last episodes of season 1 and all episodes of season 2
ReplyDeleteWhoever picked the pictures did a great job!
ReplyDeleteWhoever picked the pictures did a great job.
ReplyDeleteMy Dream Nominee for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series is Chloe Bennet, tbh. And Supporting Actor is Brett Dalton.
ReplyDeleteIain and Liz are also great!
Yeah, there are some pretty strong conteders in that category.
ReplyDeleteOh episode 3 was awesome, especially that ending! And as Missions said, it will get even better.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I was pretty critical when it came to them. I wanted a picture of the actor/actress that really belonged to the show. So different pictures for Taraji P. Henson for Empire and Person of Interest. Also, I didn't want a photoshopped cast picture, but rather one of the character in a regular episode.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see Grant Gustin Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, but I have to admit that he the a great job as Barry Allen...
ReplyDeleteAmy For Supporting Actress in a Drama seriously needs to happen for real, This woman was born to steal shows and that she has done. Sarah who is technically the lead actress went out on paternity so Amy really for the rest of season 4 had to play sarahs slot as lead female in a way and she did with style. If i had my way she would be in lead actress but even in supporting she deserves it.
ReplyDeleteSame with POI being in best drama, criminally underrated by many critics and people alike for four glorious seasons enough d*mn it!
"I didn't expect Bellamy to become my favorite character" you're not alone... :D Bellamy is an amazing character. And Clarke. And Octavia. And Murphy. And Monty. And Jasper. And Miller. And Harper. And Finn. And all the characters that will show up during the 2 seasons, some more, some less, but all still great.
ReplyDeleteOops, a bit over the top I guess, but it's just so great...
tatiana maslany deserves 13 emmys
ReplyDeleteCool list! These are some very egregious omissions imo (Justin Theroux and the entire cast of The Affair being the main one) but other than that I could live with this very well!
ReplyDeleteThanks Daniel for putting it together, it was a lot of fun
I think Ian should get a nomination, he was amazing this year. I put him in my dream nominees.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it is a crazy category. I almost feel like there are enough worthy contenders to make two lists!
ReplyDeleteYes, so true! I would make another category with Ruth Wilson and Amy Acker.
ReplyDeleteI had the same sentiment with Bellamy, he quickly developed into my favorite character during the first season.
ReplyDeleteAnd then season 2 came and Clarke became a complete break out character for me, taking the crown as my favorite character. I still love Bellamy though
I personally would include James Spader as well, he really gut snubbed last year. Sadly it's unlikely he will be nominated this year.
ReplyDeleteThanks also again for submitting! It was a lot of fun indeed and hopefully I'll be able to do this next year too.
I think he did a great job as well!
ReplyDeleteAm I completely off base, but is orange is the new black a comedy?
