TVLine has learned that the third episode of CBS’ freshman superhero series will introduce the recurring character of Lucy Lane. In her mid-20s to early 30s, Lucy is described as as brash, funny and beautiful as her sister Lois, yet strong, smart and successful in her own right.
She is also, in keeping with DC Comics lore, an ex-girlfriend of Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) new CatCo media conglom colleague, Daily News transplant Jimmy Olsen (played by Mehcad Brooks).
At the very least, given Kara’s insta-crush on Jimmy in the series pilot, some semblance of a triangle may be in Supergirl’s future. Or, possibly much more is on tap, given that Lucy Lane is one of several DC Comics characters to have adopted the Superwoman mantle, manipulated as she was into a run of anti-Supergirl villainy by her father General Sam Lane.

Wow, they're just pulling out all the guns with this one aren't they? Don't be like Gotham and start putting out every comic character in one season. It'll get old really fast.
ReplyDeleteMeh, I doubt the love triangle would be treated seriously. I don't hate triangles as long as they're not the focus of the show.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, I think that's a character that makes sense to have around. But I doubt they'll do anything with the Superwoman stuff, it was a very minor part of the character's comic history.
ReplyDeleteSomehow i feel that's the case with the Arrow and The Flash. I do love both shows but for once I wished they could focus on one big bad and not introduce some new hero or super villain every few episodes.

ReplyDeleteArrow don't really have big villain list and most of them Villain of the week are consider to be orginal character that may or may have ties to the big bad. That not the case with Flash since it has a big villain galley and can introduce multiple villain through the season that will come back later.
ReplyDeleteFor Arrow that's now. Not when the show first started. They're going into season 4. They can do what they want now. But they didn't lay it on this thick in season 1. Arrow, imo, was very subtle in season 1. Flash's biggest concern was Wells throughout the entire season. Regardless of the 'villian of the week" thing. He never lost focus with his goal. And we as the audience witnessed that. And the writers kept with that. Now they're going into season 2 and it'll be huge. And when they introduced, Iris, Caitlin, and Cisco, they did it on Arrow first. They eased into it before Flash started. It wasn't "Smacked in our face". Like they seem to be doing here with Supergirl. It was subtle.
ReplyDeleteI get promotion and all, but it's like, can you save some people, characters and actors for season 2? IF you even get a season 2. Ya know?? B/c that's what they failed to do with Gotham. And i've seen so many fans hate that. They just dropped the show. (No offense to the group of fans that actually liked it). And seriously, Gotham just put everyone and their mother up in there in the first season. If they want Supergirl to be a huge success, i think it'd be best if they leaned back just a little bit.
I thought Superwoman was from another dimension and she had a lasso like Wonderwoman.

ReplyDeleteI know that rumour turned out to be false, but the minute I read she was in talks for a role, I immediately thought Superwoman, because I'd love to see her as a villain going up against Kara. So bring her in as Lucy / Superwoman.
it is a bullshit that they just mention Clark, but we'll never see him.. like on Arrow: never mention Gotham / Metropolis

ReplyDelete...you were talking above how other DC Comics shows were pushing too many villains at once. Lucy Lane seems like she's going to part of the personal relationship stories, not the superhero ones, so I don't see her introduction as overcrowding.
ReplyDeleteShe was a villain, though she was being manipulated by her father, General Sam Lane. He gave her a suit that mimicked Kryptonian powers and sent her to befriend and betray Supergirl.

I'm fine with it. The show's not called "Superman". I prefer they acknowledged he's out in the world, though not in Kara's hometown, instead of not mentioning him at all.
