Sleepy Hollow fans, you’re going to be sew excited about this: The Fox supernatural drama is bringing Betsy Ross into the mix for Season 3, and she’s going to be a badass.
You’ll recall that the Colonial-era seamstress, whom legend says stitched together the first American flag, was first outed as one of Ichabod’s former lady friends at the end of Season 1. The show also made reference to the relationship midway through Season 2.

They should also bring Michelle Trachtenberg back as Abigail Adams and the two of them could aid and guide Abbie through her time in the past.
ReplyDeleteBest casting ever would be Jennifer Garner for this, but it will never happen
ReplyDeleteThat'd be cool :). I'd love to see her make friends with some notable historical female figures.
ReplyDeleteI say cast Sarah Michelle Gellar as Betsy Ross and bring back Trachtenberg as Abigail ... and ... watch the shows ratings skyrocket.
ReplyDeleteIm just hoping season 3 is better than season 2.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be.
ReplyDeleteI like season 2's darkness and how it felt more serialized than ever but hopefully the writers are forbidden to read fan opinions on social media, or hell to even interact with the fans... I just want them to decide on an arc they WANT to tell and do their best to tell it well. Season 2 had too many instances of fan interference.
ReplyDeleteThey really need to deliver this season. After that horrible season we've endured,we sure deserve it!
ReplyDeleteI didn't hate season 2 I enjoyed it of course. But I guess my issue is they went in a different direction from season 1. I just want season 3 to be more darker and scare the crap out of me
ReplyDeletenah, now that they got rid of Henry and Katrina it'll be about what the fans want...Ichabbie
ReplyDeleteThis is one rare instance where i'm not opposed to either of the scenario.I do love their chemistry together.Romance, why not?
ReplyDeleteI don't know why fans can't just be effing patient and let it happen organically. They are so cute as friends, if they get together too soon eventually there will have to be relationship drama "to keep it interesting" which on this show is the last thing I want. I will take cute Ichabbie friendship over relationship troubles any effing day.
ReplyDeleteSleepy Hollow is really good, fun, dark and interesting. I really don't understando why everyone hated season 2 so much.
ReplyDeleteA lot of fans hated Katrina and hated the show dare spend time on a lead character. (God forbid!) And I hated the last handful of episodes when it was obvious they were pandering to bitchy, whiny-ass fans and trying to please everyone.
ReplyDeleteWhich is why I'll download it and leave it for when I have ABSOLUTELY nothing else to watch or do. It just feels stupid to give up entirely after enduring last season. I mean, it can't get any worse than that, although a romantic relationship between Ichabbie it's pretty close.
ReplyDeleteIt was beyond horrible IMO.I almost gave up on the show but they got rid of the 2 characters i wanted gone since the beginning. So,i'm giving them one last chance.Judging by the significant drop in ratings in season 2,majority of US audiences agree with me.
ReplyDeleteOh, honey, this is, mostly a shipper thing. Personally, I didn't hate it, that much. And definitely not the Katrina parts, those I actually liked.
ReplyDeleteI stopped mid-season 2 after the pandering became obvious, when I heard what they did to Henry and Katrina it became even more evident to me that they were killing Ichabods "old" family and turning them evil to appease the "have them bang" twitter fans
ReplyDeleteSomething happening organically went out of the window once twitter was invented and gave fans the opportunity to stalk and force showrunners to make them bend over backwards for them. Reading "we the fans" and "we make your show a success" on twitter every day must have caused some kind of stockholm syndrome for some showrunners. Appeasing those that otherwise would violently attack you on social media is the only way to get out unharmed.
ReplyDeleteBefore writers got social media annoying ships were never a problem. Just look at the most famous examples of couples people wanted together but the producers let it happen organically before the invention of twitter: Mulder/Scully, Buffy/Angel all ships that got developement and some even ended while the show was still going. These days fans would have torn every writer appaert that treated their ship like that.
I remember reading what psychological damage the LOST fandom did to Damon Lindeloff, remember: ship fandoms are even louder and more aggressive. To some degree I don't blame writers for giving in to them
Because it would completely disrupt the chemistry they already have. You like them as friends right now but as a couple? Things would turn upside down in terms of perception of the viewer. What is percieved as a friendly act right now will be taken 10 times more significant when that is the case. And conflict will always be the classic "I think he cheats on me" sh*t.
ReplyDeleteI really don't care much about this show.I'll watch it coz i don't want to drop but i'm not going to waste a second of my time speculating about their future storylines. When it airs,i'll watch it and that will be it.I have much more interesting shows out there to discuss about.
ReplyDeleteI admit, the show isn't really worth anyones time but it's still worth to at least aknowledge the aspects that tore it down in the first place
ReplyDeleteExactly, fans are the vermin of art. Forcing their wishes on an artists vision and what we're left with is a creative mess.
ReplyDeleteI blame the loss of Orlando Jones, John Noble and most of all Katia Winter on the fanbase
Eh I still love the show despite what they did to Henry and Katrina, if I compared season 2 to say, season 2 of Supernatural (closest example I can think in terms of tone and format) I'd pick SH... The disappointment is just more severe because of how great I thought SH was at first. And hell even the first several episodes of s2 were great, I adore the premiere. It's more the second half that's a big letdown for me.
ReplyDeleteI like them much better as friends too. Becoming a couple is too predictable. And Katrina turned evil with very little reason, her character was derailed.
ReplyDeleteShows so heavily steeped in mythology should not be afraid to tell fans on Twitter to fuck off. I mean when it comes to stuff like Grey's (the whole purpose of which is to have bland romantic storylines) fan interaction can maybe be a great thing, but it's definitely toxic to a show like this. Thank god social media was not so huge as it is now during Lost's run, or The X-Files.
ReplyDeleteI really didn't anything about this fan pandering everyone keeps talking about. It was much later i came to know almost everyone hates Katrina just as i did.Imagine my surprise! Why would i hate a plot when it did exactly what i've wanted for so long? As for example,TVD got rid of Tyler.I really don't care how it happened but it did happen.Would i nitpick about not having a proper Tyler farewell scene? Perhaps i should but i don't feel like it. Take another example-When Neal got killed in OUAT,i couldn't believe my luck.I thought that would never happen in a million year coz he is the father of Henry.I did like him but he stood in the way of my fav ship-CapatinSwan and i can't accept that. So,i was okay with that in time even though his farewell scene was crappy to say the least.Same case with this show.I hope you understand what i'm trying to say here.TV shows work for everyone in different ways my friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to lie, I wasn't a fan of Henry's storyline, he had great potential and was completely mishandled. The same goes for Irving. The Headles Horseman story, should've been wrapped at the end of season 1, to me that's part of what actually went wrong with the show on season 2, too much time wasted of him. But poor Katrina's only sin was to be in the way of ship, it's sad... she was such a great character, she had great potential and she could've added so much to the show, but no... god forbids shippers see beyond her being Ichabods wife...
ReplyDeleteWhat they did to Katrina and how they did it could potentially have destroyed the entire show, and certainly the show has lost a lot of potential that it will never get back because of that, but hopefully the new showrunner can pick up the pieces and fix some of the things they ruined at the end of the season.
ReplyDeleteAmen
ReplyDeleteThat's because that was a plot devise to get rid of her, fast. Otherwise, assuming it was their plan all along, it could have started mid season 2 and ended at the end of season 3. That would've been logical, but hey! who cares about silly things like that? let's get Ichabbie together ASAP!
ReplyDeleteGetting more excited for Season 3. It's great to hear SH news/casting.
ReplyDeleteOh wow!!! Awesome!! Bring on Betsy!
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't mean that the show is bad :)
ReplyDeleteSo, I guess FOX thinks two black women can't carry a show and their must be a white female love interest, despite the awful job they did with the last one.
ReplyDelete*sigh*
I've been rewatching Alias lately, would love to see Jennifer on a TV show again.
ReplyDeleteOf course not.Sleepy hollow has Tom Mison-How can it be all bad?
ReplyDeleteOrlando Jones, and John Noble asked to be written off this sinking ship or made it clear they wouldn't be signing a new contract so the writers were forced to quickly write them off the show come seasons end.Katia Winter, Orlando Jones, and John Noble asked to be written off this sinking ship or made it clear they wouldn't be signing a new contract so the writers were forced to quickly write them off the show come seasons end.
ReplyDeleteConsidering they only have 3 regulars now, it makes sense they'd cast new recurring roles. I highly doubt it has anything to do with 2 black women being incapable of carrying a show.
ReplyDeleteGet ready for a 'modern' day Betsy Ross as it appears ( from what I've read ) she'll have been transported to the future well Abbie got stuck in the past.
ReplyDeleteShe will end up being Ichabod's new 'partner' well Abbie journeys through the past.
Honestly, I don't trust it because I've seen them sideline Jenny and Abbie for a boring terribly written white woman already. I don't trust it because TV shoves POC women (unless produced by Shonda Rhimes) into stereotypical roles as background fodder for mediocre white women all the damn time and I'm tired of it. I'm all for recurrers, but given past events, this seems like the wrong first PR move to earn back that trust.
ReplyDeleteAll I know what I read and it appears they are. I'm sure Ichy and Abbie will be separated for 3 or 4 episodes before they are reunited.
