After recurring heavily in Season 1, Riley Smith has been promoted to series regular for the second season of CBS’ Scorpion. The series follows Walter O’Brien (Elyes Gabel), who leads a group of virtuoso super genius misfits that are recruited by Homeland Security to solve complex, high-tech global threats. Smith plays Paige’s (Katharine McPhee) son Ralph, who appears troubled until he is discovered by Walter to be a super-genius. Ralph becomes a member of the Scorpion team after Walter takes him under his wing. Smith is repped by Commercial Talent Agency and attorney Steve Younger.

ReplyDeleteNot sure how I feel about this. He showed up a little too much last season for my liking, I don't want him showing up even more. But as far as kids in TV shows he's not that bad.

I didn't realise he wasn't a regular and thought it was going to be his dad beat dad... who I really want gone so Walter and Paige can get together. *Whew*!
ReplyDeleteThat's cool!! I'm kind of surprised he wasn't already a regular. I thought he was, actually, with just a lower amount of episodes than the others. Like Mark Sheppard and Misha Collins on "Supernatural."
ReplyDeleteI like seeing him interact with the other characters. Walter sees him as sort of a son, while Toby is the dangerous cool uncle (the kind who buys beers when Ralph is older, but still under 21), Slyvester is a sweet and geeky uncle, and Happy is a cool aunt.
ReplyDeleteIf he's already on the show, then he's probably being tutored on set already. There's pretty strict rules for child actors about how long they're allowed to be on set, and how many hours of school time they have to have. I don't think his education is going to suffer.
ReplyDeleteBeing a series regular occupies most adult actors for the year. The show doesn't need him to be there all the time, so I find it a weird call.
