    That ending sucked!!! I guess Pilcher was right in trusting the first generation.
    Book readers: Did the the books finished this way? or are they winging a posible second season?

    I was really loving it but then that ending made me hate it. And I mean really hate, that was such a horrible ending, really disappointing.

    Frustrating and captivating.
    Frustrating -- I mean that ending. Although I get the title now. 'Cycle'... I guess Humans are just humans after all. They can't just change overnight but I would've loved to see Ben's mother one last time to see what she'd become... Well I guess we'll never know now.
    Captivating -- the whole episode I just couldn't take my eyes off of my computer as I didn't want to miss any seconds of it.
    I've already said it in another post but since it was a 10-episode event, I wish those 10 episodes had lasted 52 minutes. The finale and some episodes felt like they were in a rush and needed to wrap things up too quickly.

    I just read what the book ending is, I would have much preferred that ending, it could have made for a pretty interesting season 2 as well. This is what it is if people are interested:

    It seems that the writers hedged their bets on whether WP would be renewed until the last episode. When WP was cancelled they tacked on this vague makeshift ending in an unsuccessful effort to wrap everything up. I call this being "Lindelofed".

    Why would they do that? Unless somewhere in time they had a 3 season plan. Then they could've focused on the kids in season 2, were they realized Pilcher was actually wrong, and season 3 coul've gone into the future with the adults. Still, there really was no reason to cange it.

    Meh, it was entertaining summer television that grew more tedious toward the end. This last episode was by far the weakest of the series. I hope FOX doesn't go the Under The Dome route and really destroy decent fiction writing by extending the series into the true realm of the ridiculous, cheesy and unwatchable. I hope they don't bring this back next summer or ever..

    A season 2 with that ending would probably be more of the same thing but without all the mystery, I can't see it being any good tbh. At least with the book ending they could have kept the mystery. Killing off Ethan was a good call though, of all the actors he's probably the least likely to come back.

    Wow, I read the books and loved them. Watched all of these episodes and loved them. But that finale was terrible. The ending was a cop-out compared to how the books ended. I think they did this hoping for a second season. If they had one, with that ending, I would not watch it.

    That could be a problem. Much of the program's success lay in the fact that viewers only gradually acquired an understanding of what was happening. Now that the mystery is gone, WP could easily deteriorate into just another drama about underdogs attempting to defeat bad guys.

    I thought it was good. I'm happy, sad, and mad at the same time. Let's start with why I'm happy...

    I was right, AND I got my wish, Pam killed Pilcher! I said it was either going to be her or Ethan. (I'd prefered her since I was waiting for her to do it for weeks). I also said Ethan would commit suicide, which he did, but he did it to save people. Bravo Ethan! That scene was so sad. My eyes watered but tears didn't fall down my cheeks. But he went out like a boss! Awesome.

    Sad-Felt so bad for Teresa and Ben though. And could Ben be more stupid? I'm sorry I know he was looking for his dad but his dad's "dying wish" was for Ben to look after the people, and his mother. That does not mean stick your head down an elevator shaft. THROUGH DOORS! Now what if the power came back on in that moment??? His head would've been gone!!! And seriously he was asleep for three years?? That's messed up.

    One again I felt bad for Kate when she was talking about Harold to Teresa. (Thank you writers, for that btw, I felt soooo much better with that little bit of info, it made a big difference for me) And when she was in there Toy Store trying to catch a breath, the look of her sad face while she was surrounded by the business that her and Harold created, poor thing! Then she kicked that Abbie's ass!! I was cheering for her! She was such a trooper tonight. And i'm glad she FINALLY saw the truth with the help of Pam.

    I'm so mad that Ethan's sacrifice was for nothing!! They suspended all the adults and released Group C??? Who did that??? Not Pam!! Right??? I seriously thought she'd take over and let everybody "become one" I mean where the hell did she go?? I'm confused about that. Then they hung up the kids?? Was anyone able to read the sign that was around his neck?? I couldn't read it? Lastly, Megan got killed, and we couldn't see that???? I've been waiting for this teacher to get hers for sooo long and when she finally does, we can't see it?!?! Dick move writers.

    Sigh. I'm sad this show is over. The way it ended, we could've had a sseason 2. Then again, idk if I'd enjoy it w/o Ethan. But I have to say, this was definitely entertaining, I had a helluva time watching it. And it really helped with this long hiatus we are all going through, so I'm just really Glad this show existed. The cast was great, the acting was great, the story was great, it was all great. So thank you Wayward Pines.

    Tbh....im satisfied I liked how messed up that was I mean we all thought that Kate and Pam would save wayward pines and make it a better place but then bam.....the whole town is screwed again like what the hell I mean it's called cycle cause literally who were we to think people would change over night and make the world a better place the only thing I'm wondering is why not just kill the adults what are they planning to do with them? Anyways what did you guys think?

    I don't know if a second season would be as enthralling and engaging as the first one. Half the show depended on discovering the mystery of Wayward Pines (which I couldn't have enjoyed more!), and we don't have that anymore.
    I'd still watch another season of this show, but I know I wouldn't like it as much as this one.
    Besides, I LOVE cliffhangers, and this one was very intense.

    Yea that sounds so much better. I the kind of guy that takes meanings out of Episode Title, and as soon as I read this week I went oh shit... Something bad is going to happen. Ever Since last episode I saw it was about to get "London Boulevard-ed" by the kids. And yup it did.
    This pretty much only happened because they wanted to do a season 2, and of course with M.S they would want to do a big twist and turn at the end. And so we got.
    Internally within the show this happened because they did too well on the children, by telling them the Adults would not be able to handle the truth, don't tell them, and as gullible they are they did just that over threw them.



    If there is a Season 2, I don't know if Ben is like his dad much to be able to handle shit on his own. Once he got a girlfriend he was pretty much under her influence.


    Any who whats done is done. Time to watch another show.

    I actually didn't notice the title. I just kept in mind the "series finale" part. But that was a nice twist. Really messed up though. I'd like to know wwhich kid was looking behind the cameras this time.

    As for what I think. Not to be rude and i don't want you to take this the wrong way, I think you have an incredibly LONG run-on sentence and should add some periods in that comment. Lol Honestly it was a bit hard to read.

    Silly Show with a silly premise. How are those so-called "abbies" any more dangerous than the wild animals that the original homo sapiens had to deal with on the African plains...armed only with pointed sticks? And yet this group of humans, armed with the finest of modern technology, can't recapture their world from these creatures?

    Loved it from start to end although I have to admit, I'm a bit torn with how they ended it. But in a way, I can imagine, as the episode suggests, that Ben and likely Amy, would repeat the cycle just as well and finish what his father started.

    SPOILER ALERT:
    - Ethan was alive

    - Pam & Belinda were dead, so annoyed that they didn't use Belinda's last scene from the book
    - agent Hassler's life actually had a meaning
    - abbies destroyed the town and ate the 3/4 of WP citizens, BUT they didn't eat them like they showed in show (facepalm), they tried to ate victim's intestines while she/he was still alive, why would they try to eat the spine or ribs?
    - Pilcher wasn't killed, but sent for a trip into the woods
    - when they fled to the mountain it turned out that there's enough food for only 4 years, so month after the events they all decided to hibernate for a long time

    They managed to turn full of guts and action book into boring finale. The only good moment was when that rock, piece of steel r whatever it was hit Ben in the head and he finally stopped screaming.

    Did Pam die a heoric death? I really started liking her this last couple of episodes, she came a very long way...
    And what was Agent Hassler's story?
    Pilchers demise sounds very poetics, that's just what he deserved.

    They could have done several 90 minute shows as well to fully give development and credit to a lot of plots they left out from the books. I loved the books and the ending in them (have not watched this finale yet)

    BOOK SPOILERS: No, Pam was a sadistic character in the books, who was against Ethan. At the end of Book 2, after knocking her unconscious, Ethan left Pam on the other side of the fence. In Book 3, however, she managed to return somehow, and decided to kill Theresa and Ben. Adam Hassler (who had a major role in Book 3) killed Pam by shooting her.

    In the books, they were much more dangerous. They were a lot huger and their abilities were developed to the maximum. In the books, they really were like monsters and not just slightly bigger humans.

    Adam Hassler cooperated with Pilcher. He loved Theresa in the past and wanted Pilcher to put her and Ben in WP + Ethan dead. After waking up he lived with Theresa for a year and then he apparently annoyed someone and was sent on mission to see what's left of human civilisation

    Were they at least semi-intelligent in the books? Otherwise, I don't see how they could be such a threat. I mean, unlike vampires and such, it seems like they could be fairly easily killed (i.e., by a rifle bullet or two).

    Yes. At least, it was implied. Remember the captured abbie in the facility? Well, there was one in the book, too, and Pilcher named it Margaret. She was tamer than the others, and Pilcher was able to run some experiments on her. He found out that she had good logic and great memory. He also assumed that in a certain amount of time, people would be able to establish communication with the abbies.

    Ethan also showed her to the townspeople when he revealed the truth to them on Kate's fake-reckoning.

    Theresa and Ben had spent 5 years in WP before Ethan arrived and then they're together, cause Hassler was on mission. When Hassler came back there was a little drama, but Theresa decided to stay with her husband.


    Ethan & Kate weren't together when they're in WP although there was one make out session approx. few hours after her husband died.

    Your welcome. Even though they left out the major storyline of Book 2, I was still satisfied with the adaptation. You also have to bear in mind that the books and the scripts were written simultaneously, so it is natural that there are changes. At least they didn't turn it completely inside out like Under the Dome.

    Abbies communicated i.a. with feromones, so if one of them was in trouble, soon others came to rescue him and they usually travelled in groups so yes, they're a threat.

    Perhaps, but would they really have been that hard to wipe out by a determined group of humans with modern technology? For example, bait a trap to get a large bunch of them to come together in one place and then hit them with poison gas grenades or such.

    Use a human volunteer as bait, for example. Use him to capture an initial few of them and those would then draw in the others...if they do come to the aid of others of their species as you said above.

    Oh, I forgot to mention that Pam wasn't Pilcher's sister in the book. She was a homeless girl (yes, she was much younger, in her twenties!), whom Pilcher encountered in the past and later she followed him into his project. Similar case with Sheriff Pope.
