Loved getting more back story on Nolan. Wish we could've gotten a couple of happy memories (or at least one) amidst all the sad and angsty ones. Don't love the forced co-dependency between Irisa and Nolan; I want them to be together because they want to be NOT because they have to be so hopefully that's something that gets resolved by the end of the season. But at least this gives them time to work out their issues. Their relationship is the #1 reason I watch this show.
enjoyable ep. I'm a bit conflicted, as I loved getting some backstory on Nolan and the times before the Pale Wars and some of his family history, I'm a bit disappointed that the writers depicted him as being a bit racist and bloodthirsty- although a bit understandably in the beginning as he saw his family killed in front of him, I would've hoped that he would've softened by the time he "adopted" Irissa as I thought that he had all along. They have the best relationship imho, and after driving them apart last season, I didn't see the need to do that again (even though they have to be "tethered" by the arctech in their heads). We'll see how that will turn out. Liked that Alak finally escaped and will shed light on the duplicity of his parents. Still curious as to what Stahma is up to with the Omec, and wonder if the daughter Omec will disobey her father's orders and set their plan up for failure.... I'd still like to get more on the Pale Wars/Arkfall etc, and at the very least why do we mostly see old human tech used by both sides and very rarely see advanced Votanis tech/weapons etc.... a standalone movie, webseries, or even just some official background posted on the show site would be useful....
Really liked getting more background on the Pale Wars, I've always wanted more and it was great seeing young Nolan.
I personally like the split between Irisa and Nolan, its clear the events of last season have messed Irisa up a lot and she doesn't want to be the killer or fighter she was forced to be by the tech or as a kid by Nolan (even if he believed he was doing the right thing for her).
I think this is good. Some long buried issues came to light and I believe they both will be more appreciative and loving of each other when all is said and done.
I enjoyed this episode specially all the Nolan and Irisa scenes. Some good emotional pull in those scenes specially those flashbacks that we see due to their weird brain connection.
Can't wait to see Stahma and Datak run for their lives next week. From the start, they should have been honest and told Amanda and Nolan about that crazy Rahm Tak holding their son hostage. When will they ever learn to trust others?
Doc Ywell's wordplay was on fire in this episode. Enjoyed all her quips and sardonic statements.
I'm interested again. They lost me in season two. But I really liked this episode. I wasn't too happy to see that he had made Irisa kill when she was a little girl. But I did like the realizations that came out of the flashbacks.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Well that hurt. Nolan and Irisa are letting them win by splitting up like that and I'm not here for it.
ReplyDeleteI was enjoying it right up to the point where Irisa said she needed to leave, like seriously...again?
