  How important was it for you that a woman direct this movie?
  
  I think it’s important. It’s a story about a girl becoming a woman. I think only a woman, who has been a girl, can be able to tell the story in the right way.
  
  How do you describe your collaboration with director Patty Jenkins?
  
  All my life I’ve been working with male directors which I’ve really enjoyed. And I’m lucky in that I’ve worked with men who have a lot of respect for women. But working with a woman is a different experience. It feels like the communication is different. We talk about emotions. With Patty, it’s a thing now, we communicate with our eyes. She doesn’t need to say a thing. If I’m hurt, she feels the pain. It’s a whole different connection that I have with her. She’s also brilliant, she’s bright, she’s fierce, she’s sharp. She knows exactly what she wants Wonder Woman to be.
  
  For a long time, people didn’t know how to approach the story. When Patty and I had our creative conversations about the character, we realized that Diana can still be a normal woman, one with very high values, but still a woman. She can be sensitive. She is smart and independent and emotional. She can be confused. She can lose her confidence. She can have confidence. She is everything. She has a human heart.
  
  Does this undertaking feel like a big responsibility?
  
  It is a big responsibility. We knew we wanted to tell a story that would inspire people: women, men, boys, and girls. And we didn’t want to just show a generic story of a superhero coming of age. We wanted her to be full and whole. This is the first time we are telling this story and I feel like for so many boys, they have great role models to work with. They have Superman and Batman and Spiderman and the list goes on and on. And they are strong and almighty and they are positive and active and proactive.

  “Wonder Woman” hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
  
  Joining Gadot in the international cast are Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui. Jenkins directs the film from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg, based on characters from DC Entertainment.
  
  Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston. The film is produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Richard Suckle, with Rebecca Roven, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. Warner Bros.   16th January 2016 - Chris Pine Confirms Wonder Woman Setting
  
  Warner Bros. continues production on the Wonder Woman movie ahead of its 2017 release, and there’s still plenty to be learned about the superhero strongwoman. The latest intel comes from Gal Gadot’s costar Chris Pine, who confirms the film will take us to World War I and keeps hope alive for a potential Lynda Carter cameo.
  
  Speaking about the setting to the Toronto Sun, the actor said, “It’s a period we don’t see often; it’s usually World War II. Our costume design is incredible. We have scenes with, like, 500 extras all in period dress. I’d never been on a film with extras casting as beautifully done as it is here.”
  
  But inquiring minds want to know whether Lynda Carter, who famously played the heroine on the ’70s TV show, will feature in some capacity.
  
  “If I could tell you that I wouldn’t, but I can’t,” Pine said in a separate interview with E!. At least it’s not a “no.”

  Connie Nielsen, the Danish actress best known for playing a Roman queen in Gladiator, has joined the cast of Wonder Woman, Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated take on the DC icon.
  
  Gal Gadot is playing the Amazonian princess and the cast already includes Chris Pine, portraying love interest Captain Steve Trevor, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, and Ewen Bremner. Pine recently said the movie is set during World War I.
  
  Nielsen will play Hippoyta, the queen of the Amazons and mother of Princess Diana, aka Wonder Woman.
  
  The movie is currently shooting in the UK and Italy, will be released June 23, 2017.
  
  Nielsen’s recent credits include a stint on the Kevin Bacon crime drama The Following as well as The Good Wife. She also appeared in Nymphomanic Vol. 1.

  Principal photography is underway on Warner Bros. Pictures’ Wonder Woman feature film, the highly anticipated action adventure from director Patty Jenkins (“Monster,” AMC’s “The Killing”), starring Gal Gadot (the “Fast & Furious” movies) in the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. The character will make her big screen debut this spring in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” but the new film will mark her first time headlining a feature.

  Oscar winner Nicole Kidman is in ongoing negotiations to play a high-ranking Amazonian warrior alongside Gal Gadot in WB’s “Wonder Woman,” an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.
  
  A representative for Warner Bros. had no comment.
  
  While Kidman’s potential role has yet to be confirmed, the Queen of the Amazons in the “Wonder Woman” comics is Hyppolyta, who also happens to be Diana Prince’s biological mother — though it’s unclear whether the film will remain faithful to that storyline.

  28th July - Chris Pines Closes Deal to Play Steve Trevor
  
  Chris Pine has closed a deal to play Steve Trevor opposite Gal Gadot in “Wonder Woman,” TheWrap has learned. Pine joins the DC Movie Universe in a multi-picture deal that includes sequel options, according to insiders.
  
  A representative for Warner Bros. did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
  Steve Trevor will be no mere love interest for Gadot’s Diana Prince, as there will be plenty of action to keep him busy, though plot details remain under wraps.
  
  There had been speculation that Pine was up for a role in WB’s upcoming “Green Lantern Corps” and that the “Wonder Woman” rumors were just a smokescreen, but that popular fanboy theory proved unfounded.
  
  Patty Jenkins is directing “Wonder Woman,” which Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder are producing with Charles Roven and Richard Suckle of Atlas Entertainment. Jason Fuchs wrote the script after working with Warner Bros. on Joe Wright’s “Pan.”
